Summary
Viggo was sure he was going to die after seemingly succumbing to his wounds. Then like a stray ray of light he is saved by a dragon riding stranger named Kala. An intelligent healer and warrior, she keeps her secrets well guarded from everyone in the archipelago. As the two spend time together, a friendship blooms and Viggo can't help but find her intriguing.
As Kala makes a name for herself, Viggo's health returns and a newfound need for revenge fuels his goal in taking down the Dragon Hunters. As the archipelago becomes more dangerous than it's every been, friendship and trust are tested. Dark secrets are revealed and Viggo has to make choices that may haunt him for the rest of his days.
With trouble brewing on the horizon, Kala and Viggo's future remains uncertain with the Dragon Riders and Hunters. Their relationship and past are both put to trial in this harrowing tale of adventure and romance.
This story is an AU and contains spoilers for HTTYD: RTTE and all (well most) of its canon. Also contains violence and mature content. Other warnings will be added where needed. Also contains OC's! Smut at Part 12/13 if thats all you're here for.

Viggo considered himself a down-to-earth man. He had grown up in a tribe that shared horrifying stories about creatures that had once scared him, yet now, as the chief of the dragon hunters, he knew his place was above those beasts. You arrived to Berk right after Hiccup defeated the Red Death and Berk made peace with dragons. Orphaned, living on a different land you had to get used to. Gothi had taken you as her apprentice and under her care, you grew up to be a good healer. You and your group of friends now grown, move to a place you all now call the edge. Adventures and dangers left and right, your life won't be boring. A new threat arises. New enemies are made. New wars are fought. What happens when you finally meet the man behind all that fear, war and bloodshed? And why he makes you feel at home?
Story starts after all Heather and Dagur things. In this AU they leave together to rebuild the Berserker island and won't join the riders. Also the fighting with Dragon riders and Dragon hunters/Viggo has been going on for 6 months-year now.

Hiccup believed that he had seen a lot of the world during his years of travel. Of course, he was always surprised by something: whether it was a strange dragon or a human thought. To some extent, he lived for the unknown and wanted to conquer it.
But Hiccup didn't think that one day his life would bring him into contact with perhaps the most amazing and hitherto unseen creature. A fairy tale, a figment of the imagination, a playful phrase.
He squinted and saw a silhouette moving in the shadow of the iron cage. Lit by the torch's flame, it was unlike any dragon Hiccup had ever seen or read about. Its bright, furious eyes met his, and he suddenly froze.
Legs, arms. Wings, tail.
It's neither human nor dragon.
A half-breed.
