Summary
Fiona’s always known that her little brother was destined for greatness.
Since he was a baby, Lip has been leaps and bounds ahead of his peers. It’s hard to believe there’s anything he can’t do; Fiona honestly doesn’t think there is. Sure, he’s not the greatest cook, and has definitely stained all their white clothes red multiple times thanks to washer mishaps, but still, she has this childish image of her brother as capable of anything. College, therefore, should be a walk in the park.
It isn't.
Or: Lip's having trouble at college. Fiona's having trouble at home. They work it out together.

The Gallagher clan has changed a lot over the years, Carl thinks, but the one person that’s always stayed the same is Fiona.
Sure, she’s had her moments, but of the Gallagher siblings, she’s always been the most reliable. She’s always there. Always hardworking, always exhausted, but always in the kitchen making coffee with a smile on her face in the mornings or taking off her glittery heels on the couch after a fun night when she comes home late. But she always comes home. That’s the point. You can always count on Fiona.

She's not proud of the fact that she hasn’t even seen her little brother’s new school before now—no matter how busy her life gets, she’s always taken the time and effort to stay connected and involved in the kids’ education—but she’s here now.
That should count, at least, for something.
Or: Fiona comes in to talk to Lip's principal about his plan for graduation. It reminds her of a very similar situation - another Parents' Evening, so many years ago.

By the time Fiona is seventeen years old, her mother has been gone for over a year, her father is absent more often than he is not, and she has become the de facto head of the Gallagher household.
To be entirely fair, she has always kind of been the one who kept the family going. She has experience with taking care of things. She juggles it all—the kids, the bills, her father—without complaint. She drops out of school, works three jobs, cooks, cleans, keeps everything going.
It’s when she’s seventeen, though, that it all comes crashing down.
Or: Fiona exhausts herself working to take care of everyone while sick. Her kids turn the tables and take care of her instead.
