He flinches and heaves and bites down a groan. His eyes are squeezed shut, brows crunching into one tight point in his head. Don’t make a fucking sound. His head’s going to burst.
“Sit up for a second. Should take your temperature.”
He shakes his head slightly against his arms, and the horizon definitely does flip, and he quietly chokes on liquid.
He tries to speak, has to clear his throat, and can’t imagine it did much when he rasps, “Sorry. I’m-I’m sorry. You don’t have to do anything for me.”

Another minute’s gone. Every second counts. It blares in his head sometimes; the blue sign turns too vibrant like a blinding black light. He scrubs his yellow teeth, gets dressed, smoothes his oily hair down, disgustedly washes the coating of oil off his hands, and is ready in record time.
Then, he paces his apartment, needing something. It’s 5:37 AM, and he already feels like he’s done today all wrong."
