Dr. Alanna Davis had her life all mapped out. Undergrad at Cornell, Medical School at McGill, and eventually land in the C-Suite at one of the country’s top hospitals. Everything was going according to plan, until her life completely derailed days before she was set to begin her last year of residency.
For the past three years, she has spent her life on the move, trying to outrun the nightmares of her past, always looking over her shoulders, doing her best to stay one step ahead.
Until Pittsburgh, PTMC and Dr. Jack Abbot - a city where there are no connections to her past; a job that provides her the opportunity to complete her residency; and a man who knows what its like to taste heartache and war. Night shifts in the Pitt had a way of stripping someone down to their core. It tested your patience, your skill—when the witching hour hits and you're facing MVCs and GSWs while exhaustion weighs down on your bones, finding the drive to keep pushing through sometimes feels utterly impossible.
Throw in fourth-year residency, egotistical residents, and the ever-blurring line of personal and professional between a certain night shift attending, and surviving the shift stops being the most difficult part of your job.
