"Why is he even coming? It's more than obvious he doesn't want to come," Jiang Cheng muttered as he stood with his sister and Wei Wuxian as they waited for Lan Wangji to arrive to Lotus Pier.
"Of course he wants to come! Why would he come if he didn't want to come? Besides, A-Xian has told me all about how close they are. Why would he not come to see a close friend?" Jiang Yanli argued.
"I heard the only reason he is coming because his brother insisted he should accept one of Wei Wuxian's invitations," her brother informed.
"Shijie is right, if Lan Zhan doesn't want to come, he wouldn't have accepted my invitation. I know him, he wouldn't do it if he was really set on not coming."

On the shore of the Cold Springs, Wei Wuxian stands, half-dressed in his own robes. He holds up Lan Wangji's heavenly robe, the fabric shining like spilled stars at midnight.
"Lan Zhan," Wei Wuxian breathes, a whole constellation reflecting in his eyes. "What's this? It's so—"

On the night Lan Wangji's mother left, she gave him a divine robe and told him to never let anyone see or take it from him.
