Ok i just watched a video called
A starship civilian's life by certifiably endgame in yt.
I haven't decided which st works with the story yet.
Its a mix of tos and aos. Its crackfic that has ptsd.I had the absolute need to prove a yarn person, quilter, or some form of fiber artist would be a benefit on a constitution class ship. Starting as a civilian family member that went with and makes a life for themselves. As I do not quilt, I cannot write from that pov.
I swear there is a place for a civilian fiber artist on board. Weaving knitting crochet embroidery spinning sewing quilting. What if you need a gift for a species that values art or things made by hand? Like a beaded shawl or a basket, or a fishing net. Cultural exchange of techniques. Or people want something that reminds them of home. I want to be that person. Someone who is not starfleet.
Edit added: I adore Adira. They have a life on disco a found family that loves them. I stopped watching disco after Choose to Live. My heart was done.
I'm writing this from someone who believes they have no usefull skills after raising their child and doesn't know how to live life beyond parenthood

Turning to Uhura, Pike spoke.
“Ensign. I want you to get the translator up and running and get as much information on that word Spock kept saying. ‘T’hy’la’, I think.”
“I don’t need the translator sir. I know what it means.”
She hesitated and Pike gave her a look.
“…And?”
“Well… there’s no exact translation to standard. It can mean lots of things. Friend, brother.” She paused. “But the closest translation is probably… lover.”

When Spock mysteriously collapses, it's up to Pike to figure out what happened, who "t'hy'la" is and how he can save Spock before it's too late.

This began as a one shot based on a tumblr post but I had so much interest in continuing, I decided to go for it in 2022
Only the first chapter is from 2020, when originally posted.
For the purposes of this fic, while the part where Spock accused Jim of cheating did happen, the distress signal from Vulcan did not, and there is no destruction of Vulcan or murder of Spock's mother here.
Jim arrives on the Enterprise for the first time as a crew member and clasps Spock in greeting, without thinking, and Spock responds that they are bonded.
