When rich kid college "friend" Daeron offers Dunk the opportunity to work at the Targaryen Country Estate of Summerhall for the summer season, he figures the worst that could happen is having to avoid the blond's constant advances while trying to keep professional and hopefully not get on any stuck-up heir's bad side. The pay is great, the work is nothing he doesn't have extense experience in, Daeron is fine enough company. What could go wrong?
What he did not expect, though, is the presence of his mate's absurdly young, insufferable, conceited, infuriatingly attractive brother. Dunk does NOT go out with eighteen year-olds. And he certainly doesn't go out with rude, arrogant rich little pricks. And again, the boy is eighteen! Dunk is twenty-four! It doesn't matter if he looks like sin incarnate, all toned legs and plump, venomous lips, walking around dressed like he's actively trying to get Dunk in trouble. So what if he keeps following Dunk around, smirking like a devil, finding any and all opportunities to seduce him, telling him outright that he wants him. Dunk isn't falling for it. Aerion screamed when Dunk took hold of his jaw, pushing his cheek into the mud, baring his throat. Father! he shouted, voice shrill with fear, eyes alight with terror, struggling beneath Dunk. In something like a frenzy, acting on a powerful wave of pure instinct, Dunk leaned down and firmly clamped his teeth onto the exposed skin of Aerion’s neck.

“I can’t believe Slider is getting married,” Maverick says, turning the heavy cream cardstock over in his hand. The envelope, addressed to LCDR Peter Michael Mitchell, lays torn open on his counter. He’s in his small kitchen, phone tucked against his shoulder, Ice’s voice in his ear. “You never mentioned he had a girl,” he adds, tone accusatory, “Mary. Have you met her?”
“Mary Elizabeth,” he corrects. “She came to visit while we were at Norfolk. Sweet girl.”
“I gotta say, I’m surprised I made the guest list,” Maverick says with a huff of laughter.

Without the trimmings of his station, Prince Jacaerys could be just any man, and they could lay in this room as just two men, but Cregan could have any man, he could take his pick from the lowborn in the alehouses, or even some of the nobles who would not turn away from a quick coupling to earn favour from Warden of the North, it was the Prince, heir to the Throne, blood of the dragon, that was set apart from them, above them. Above Cregan.
Or when Lord Cregan Stark met Prince Jacaerys, he was not anticipating the effect being outranked by the Prince would have on him.

Ice clenches his jaw like he’s so frustrated having to spell it out. “Mitchell. Stop it. I know. And it’s fine. It’s not the first workplace crush I’ve dealt with. But we both know this,” Ice gestures between them with a doubtful grimace. “It’s not healthy.”
Wait. What?
“Workplace…crush,” Maverick repeats, stuck on the words, mental gears turning in slow, rusty clicks as he plays back the conversation. Ice accused Maverick of being more interested in him than Amy. Maverick thought he meant as a rival, a sparring partner. But he meant romantically? That can’t be right.
“Stop it,” Ice says with a roll of his eyes like he thinks Maverick is messing with him. “There’s no point denying it. You like me.”
Maverick stares at him with his mouth agape, unable to formulate words. The struggling gears in his mind have ground to a halt.
“It’s really obvious, man,” Ice continues, tone softening. “You’re like a kid with puppy love. You’re always trying to get under my skin, get my attention. It’s flattering, in a way. But I’ll pass."
“You think I like you?”

Ever since the incident that brought his family to shambles, the fatidic family vacation that ended with his uncle dead and Aerion cast away as a pariah —even more so than he’d already been—, Aerion has been burdened with terrible episodes of anxiety. It has gotten to a point where he finds himself desperate for relief, and the only apparent solution to his problem is to ask Dunk, his giant of a roommate, for some help.
A favor that will certainly shift the delicate balance in which both of them have been keeping their unresolved feelings for each other.

He only wavers for that one breath, one, before he digs down into Duncan's soft underbelly, sharp, baring his teeth.
