With the cultivation sects still breathing down their necks and a corpse-ridden mountain barely yielding enough food for them to scrape by, the members of the Yiling Laozu's definitely-powerful sect (that is not at all a group of elderly refugees) seem to have very few options. After all, such a fearsome and mighty group of people must necessarily stay connected to the cultivation world in order to establish their dominance.
They would never dream of sneaking off their mountain in twos and threes to seek out a tranquil life as, say, tradesmen and farmers in some far-off land...

Wen Qing’s rapid thoughts come to a screeching halt.
After going missing for a year, a worse-for-wear Wei Ying shows up on Wen Qing's doorstep. She makes him stay, even though it adds a mentally ill young man to her odd mix of family. She doesn't regret it, but she still gets scared when Wei Ying accidentally becomes A-Yuan's caretaker for the night when he is not able to handle the task. Or so she thinks.
