Summary
Frank must have screamed. Maybe he cried out for help. He couldn’t be sure, as his whole world had tunneled down to the preternaturally still body of the woman he loved, splayed out in front of him on the cold trauma room floor. Her golden blonde hair was matted with drying blood, and on instinct he smoothed some of the strands from her forehead. Mel always hated when her hair was in her eyes, but they were closed now. It took everything in him to resist the urge to gather her broken body to his chest and hold her close as though he could infuse his life into hers. Instead, he lifted a shaky hand to the side of her neck to feel for a pulse. He was deeply certain that if he didn’t find one, his own heart would cease to beat as well.

A slow day at work turns into a nightmare when Mel is assaulted by a patient. Based on the episode of Grey's Anatomy by the same name.

Summary
All of Mel's boyfriends.
Mel would never presume that Frank Langdon is boyfriend material.
Those were the words Princess had used once—though in a very different tone, after she’d stared a little too long at the new radiologist who’d come down for a consult.
“What about me?” Frank had said, winking at her like a dog begging for a treat.
It had made Mel feel inexplicably sad.
Set some time after season two.

Summary
Mel King hoped that her first shift at PTMC would run fairly smoothly, but getting assaulted wasn't on the bingo card. Oh and revealing her marriage to Frank Langdon wasn't really on the first day to-do list either.

Summary
“Mel and Langdon thought they were being so good. They weren’t outright about their relationship, given their titles at work and Mel only being in her early twenties, but for the most part they were okay. Mel didn’t like PDA and Langdon was already on Robby’s shitlist. He didn’t need this thrown in his face on top of the drug addiction and occasional outbursts at work.
That’s why on a particularly slow day, neither of them anticipated being outed by Langdon's kids.“

Summary
“Langdon, if you’re done with the personal call on the clock,” Dana says, appearing on his left. “Whitaker could use a senior resident in…”
“Just give me one minute,” he replies. “Mel, you gotta tell me what’s going on…”
“Don’t freak out, okay?”
In the history of people uttering that sentence, Frank thinks there are few who have not proceeded to freak the fuck out over what follows. But he’s an ER doctor. He thrives under pressure. If anyone is not going to freak out, it’s him. But it’s also her…
“Mel…”
“I…” Frank hears a faint thunk, like a tire hitting a pothole, and then the sound of someone hissing in pain. “I may have broken my arm…”

Summary
He’s also afraid he’s been too obvious about it. About the crush he’s had on Mel since he returned a year ago. Everything had felt so new that first day back, like the world was opening itself up to him for the first time again. New and scary and overwhelming, and right in the center of it was Mel, anchoring him, he anchoring her. And ever since, Frank thinks he’s been halfway in love with her, through divorce finalization and sobriety milestones, and now this.

Summary
“Sweetheart, where is Mel?” he softly asked, voice breaking at the end. Mel?
“Mel?” Robby asked. In any other situation, his face would have been comical. Langdon ignored him, giving the chief attending a taste of his own medicine from the past year.
Penny’s lips curled, tears pooling at her eyes. She was about to start sobbing, and Trinity yanked the sides of the gurney up, getting ready to move her inside. “Mel’s hurt, Daddy.”***
When Mel is in a serious car accident with the Langdon kids, its up to Trinity to become everyone's favorite emotional support coworker.

Summary
“Doctor Langdon, I don't think I have feet.”
A shocked laugh escapes his lips and he reaches for her hands, still tangled in her hair. Her braid must be destroyed. “No feet? Well, I think I’m looking at ‘em.”
“And, uh… My hands. Don’t think I have hands anymore. Or a brain. I think I’m a—a jellyfish with a nerve net instead of a brain.”
He holds onto her hands. Instead of going to the chairs beside them, he leads her over to the wall (flicking the lights to dim as he goes), and slowly guides her to sit. “Well, I’ll tell you one thing you’ve got,” he mutters to himself, “Tachycardia. Has anyone ever told you that’s bad for your health?”
If she were in a state to handle a joke she’d have replied, yeah, once or twice.
Frank never promised he'd be serious, even during a panic attack that would have sent Mel to the ER if she wasn't already here. Maybe that's a good thing.

“Not funny, Frank.”
“Then why are you laughing?”
“... Shut up.”

Summary
they don’t use a condom the first time they have sex.
it’s not an intentional decision – she honestly didn’t even think of it. they were both so wrapped up in each other, in the moment, in the fact that this was finally, finally happening, that protection was the furthest thing from their minds.
plus, neither of them had slept with anyone for awhile; he revealed that it’d been nearly a year and a half since he’d had sex with abby, even though they’d only separated nine months ago. (one of the many signs our marriage was dead in the water, he’d told her, with a wry smile on his face.)
and mel? well, mel had never slept with anyone. technically.
