Above him, the degaussing click sounded out. Tenna groaned again, voice crackling as he shuffled in place. "O-ow, ooh, hah."
Spamton's rifling slowed just a little as he listened to Tenna pant and claw back control over himself. After a moment, there was another deliberate rustling, as if he were feeling around the bed.
"Wh-where did..." A deep breath. "Oh. H-he isn't..." A sniffle. Then, wetly, "It was a... a nice dream, at least."

Or, in the Trash Heap AU, after months of being away, Spamton came back to his Tenna. And now everything's back to normal - he's here, and he saved Tenna from falling apart, and everything's fine! Spamton just has to keep saying it, until he believes it.
And Tenna's doing his best to be enough for his husband. After all, he was the reason Spamton left in the first place. He just has to do everything right, and Spamton will stay.
It'll work this time, for sure. It will. It has to.

Summary
The Angel always knew that this day would come. Banishment has always been an inevitability, so there is no reason to feel bad about it happening now. After a harrowing battle against the Knight, the Angel realizes that they are unwanted within this story. They have already been taught many times that at some point, it is time to let go of a world. This is how it must be. If Kris does not want them, then it must be time. After all, if their vessel does not want them, isn't the only winning move not to play?
With the Angel disconnected, Kris and Susie descend into a Dark World without knowing what fate has just befallen the world. The light that shines the way is gone, and not a single person knows why. The world moves on anyway while Kris, Susie, and Ralsei are all caught in the aftermath of the Angel's swift decision. Even with the light no longer shining brightly, maybe something can be salvaged from the dark.

"You're not gonna believe this, Tens," Spamton said, finishing up his sleeves. It was a little staticky against his feathers, but Spamton never minded a little static. He glanced back and went on, a little in awe, "It was the Royal Scientist, Dr. Gaster."

Tenna's smile was absolutely pristine. He even raised the left side, since it naturally sloped down further due to the cracks. It was every ounce of stage performance he'd once claimed.
It wasn't his real smile. This was the smile he used years ago, when he'd been so desperate to make Spamton like him. It had taken so long to let his guard down, and it had been even longer since Spamton saw that too-perfect mask.
That's how Spamton realized something was wrong. This wasn't his partner - this was a performer, putting on a show.
