Think Buck.

“I’ve had a chance to go through files from the past couple of years, and I found one that seemed to be… misplaced?” Her fingers settle over a manila envelope with “December 18th, 2018” scratched into the corner in Bobby’s boxy handwriting.
“Okay? And what trouble did I get into 6 years ago?” Buck tilts his head to get a better look at the envelope.
“I’m afraid your disclosure paperwork was never filed with the LAFD. It’s all filled out, minus the signatures, and it found its way to the bottom of the bottom drawer."
"Disclosure with who?"
-OR- Bobby filled out the paperwork years ago.

Summary
Eddie doesn’t even look up as he settles himself, a crushed box of Marlboro Reds between them. Buck reaches for them, slaps the bottom of the carton on the butt of his hand and pulls an orange filter between his teeth. He leans toward Eddie, who’s already holding a lighter to the end of his cig. Eddie’s knuckles shine in the moonlight and flame, red smeared across his right hand.

Eddie sits up so fast his head spins. “Is he okay?”
“Eddie,” she exhales his name. “It’s not Buck–it’s–it’s–,” her choked back tears muffled with static.
“Maddie?” Eddie’s feet find the carpet.
“It’s Bobby,” Maddie lets the floodgates open. There’s no question in his mind. He’s heard sobs like those before. He’s had sobs like those before. Bobby Nash is dead.

My therapist said it would help me ‘get back into my body.’” Eddie’s eyebrows fly up. “Because I’ve been stiff since the strike.” Buck’s eyes close as he scrunches his face like he’s trying to take the words back from the air.
“Oh.” That shut Eddie up. “And… dance?”
Buck opens one eye. “Would–reconnect me with my body.”
-OR- Buck asks Eddie to teach him how to dance. A little weed goes a long way.

“Hello?”
“I’m looking to speak to an Evan Buckley.”
“Umm, speaking.” His pulse quickens. He can feel it in his fingertips.
“This is Luitenant Cantu from the EPFD. I’m calling about Firefighter Diaz, or more specifically his son, Christopher Diaz.”
“Oh my god, is he okay?”

He runs and runs and runs. He runs until the blisters on his heels match the pain of his knuckles. He runs until he turns down a familiar street. He runs until he skips two steps to hide from a full moon in the shadow of a front porch. Until he’s in front of a familiar door.

Summary
With a smile creeping towards giddy, Buck twists the lid off. Well, he tries to anyway. It keeps clicking, refusing to open. He throws one leg up on the couch hoping to gain some leverage. No dice. “I can never get these damn things open,” he mutters under his breath, struggling far more than he anticipated.
“Child-proof or Buck-proof?” Eddie smirks.
“I’ve got it,” Buck struggles. He does not in fact got it.
OR: Buck and Eddie get stoned. It leads to realizations.

Summary
“I needed to get balloons for tonight.”
“Balloons?” Eddie’s confused. They’ve had plenty of cookouts at Bobby and Athena’s and none have ever featured balloons.
“After dinner we were gonna make an announcement.”
Eddie raises an anticipatory brow.
“But… pregnancy brain.” Maddie scrunches her face as she looks up at Eddie.
Her words take a second to sink in. “Holy shit!” he exclaims. They shush him as his words threaten to reach the living room.
“holy shit!” he says softer but just as excited. He wraps Maddie and Chim in a bear hug and whispers “baby number two! congrats!” to the middle of the huddle.
