"A second chance,“ Death said.
Harry stopped in front of a bench and turned to look at the being. "A second chance at what?"
"Life."
Harry laughed bitterly. "Because that has worked out so great the first time?"
Death tilted its head. "You've changed," it stated.
"Life does that to you," Harry said and his mind felt clearer than ever, "Or should I say the last seven years. I never really left this place, have I? I lived a life feeling not quite dead and not alive either," he spat.
"I know how you feel," Death said after a moment, grinning.
"Oh, do you," Harry retorted and pierced Death with a look.
The being's smirk widened as it leaned closer.
"Bored."
Years after the war, Harry Potter lives an apathetic life. When Death offers him a second chance he takes it.
Accompanied by the being, Harry travels back to the summer before Sirius dies. Inside his younger body and the memories of an older self, Harry realizes that being connected to Death may have twisted his morals a little more than expected.
Seeking to make up for the boredom of past years, Harry isn't above carving his own space between two sides to even out the playing field.

He is offered a chance to go back and do things again, half convinced its just a joke Harry agrees. Now back in the past with just his memories and some parting information Harry sets out on an mission to correct the wrongs that had been done to him and so many others.And maybe, he can save a Dark Lord in the process.

A toddler was abandoned on the doorstep of 4 Privit Drive. Petunia was hoping to write her sister about the Halloween holiday with Dudley. Instead, her magic message box died. A traumatized toddler was left. Lily planned ahead. She sent Petunia all the documents to take care of her son if she was killed. Including his TRUE birth certificate. Edward Evans (real). Harry James Potter (fake). James hated the boy’s name and the reminder of how close he came to losing his Lily forever. Lily only married him if he adopted her son.
Ned grew surrounded by the happy Dursley family and was loved. Eventually, they contact the boy’s birth father.

“Harry!” He looked back to see his mentor’s face, pale underneath the streaks of blood and ash that covered it. His golden eyes were wide as they locked on Harry, seeming almost nervous.
“There’s no time!” Draco called out, grabbing his hand and pulling Harry towards the massive turner that would take them (hopefully) back twenty years into the past.
“Forgive us!” Remus called, raising his voice now over the building hum of the time turner, carrying a note of desperation. “He always meant to tell you. But then he was gone and it didn’t seem my place.”
“What–” Harry began, but then the power of the turner coursed through him, through his arm where Draco held him and he felt himself get dragged backwards into the vortex. The last thing he saw before his world went dark was the pleading in Remus’ eyes.
“Forgive us.”
Or: Harry and Draco travel back in time to defeat Voldemort and find that nearly everything they knew about the past (and present) is built on lies.
