Summary
When his body finally decides it's enough, Richie doesn't know what to do. He feels utterly confused and for a mere second he can't remember where he is. The room spins, leaving him dizzy.
Richie tries to catch his breath, only to realise he can't. It feels like he's choking, like there isn't enough air in the room. Anxiety claws at his chest making breathing all the more difficult.
Suddenly he seems to realise that something is very wrong.
Or, another fix-it wherein everybody lives but Richie gets seriously injured while saving Eddie.

He knows where they’re going, though no one said it aloud. Even if he doesn’t want to look at them, or be with them right now, he knows this is part of it, deep down in his bones. This will close the circle. This has to be done. So he limps along with Stan under his arm, unable to even muster up a joke about rubbing his sweaty pit all over Stan's shoulder.

The other Losers don’t notice Richie start to disappear from Eddie’s life whenever he and Myra would call things back on, and then reappear conveniently whenever they call it off, but Eddie does. At least, he thinks that’s what he's noticing. It’s the only chronological consistency in Richie’s mysterious patterns of behavior. The other Losers don’t stay up at night, in a bed devoid of Richie, thinking of what that might mean.
But Eddie does.

Richie couldn’t remember a day in which he didn’t have Eddie in his life. A day that Eddie didn’t plague his thoughts. Looking back, Richie had probably always been in love with Eddie, just never realised it. Or more correctly, refused to acknowledge it.
Now it was impossible to just toss this to the side. The petal made sure of it.
