The note read simply “My Office. Immediately after dinner.” On Monday Professor Snape saved me from falling off a moving staircase. Sparks shot out of our hands where our skin made contact as he pulled me to safety. Over the course of the week I have become obsessed, and uncontrollably aroused thinking of him constantly. I feel his eyes on me. I catch him looking at me. Nothing brings relief from the arousing day dreams churning through my mind since Monday. I fear I’ve gone completely mad. It’s Friday and now I have this note. I know who it’s from.
This is a female reader/Severus Snape story. The reader is not described in any way nor given a house. It’s written in first person and instead of doing the name inserts I write around it. Takes place before Harry comes to Hogwarts. Reader is 17 on paper but more is revealed about her age later. I know a Student teacher relationship is never okay in real life. This is fictional and magical and for fun.
Taking holiday break from posting chapters to get everything in order as we approach the end of the story.

Twice a month, you come in from Merlin knows where, crates laden with Merlin knows what, and top off Severus’ ingredient stores. Occasionally, you source something particular for him and you don’t ask any questions. The cold, expressionless Potions Master dips into the Potions Department budget and you can pay your rent and bills and feed yourself for a while.
That’s not the arrangement.

There's a new priest on the island, hell-bent on getting to know each resident, Catholic or not. Father Paul Hill pays you a visit in the middle of you smoking, he stays, and he talks. He says things, admits things to you, that he probably shouldn't. Like, that he's smoked. He's had sex, and he's all the more religious for it.
You hate him, but he's hot, he's easy to argue with, and, well, he keeps showing up at your door in the evenings.

Summary
Snape, despite his reluctant return to the light, is still a man. His burdens as Order spy through Wizarding War I and II were not easily borne, and his usual outlet of verbally lashing anyone in his vicinity was hardly enough to soothe him after each high voltage day spent sticking his neck out for the ungrateful lot. Repressed, angry, and lonely, the lynchpin of Dumbledore's ultimate victory must have had some sustenance of his soul to carry on.
He did - although it wasn't the dregs of a childhood crush that bore him through the stress of his unforgiving role as triple agent, despite what the gullible Potter boy told the public after his victory. Sure, the books all breathlessly painted him as the tragic Byronic hero who carried a torch for his unrequited love of twenty years so that the Greater Good could prevail. The books were written by ignorant idiots.
No, there was something else that kept Snape sane year after terrible year, perhaps the one lifeline that allowed him to cling to his humanity as he carried out his terrible task. Not something as saccharine as love, not for a man who lived by darkness as much as Severus Snape did, no... his succor was a coarser comfort.

Summary
Affinity. One tiny, almost unheard of word that surfaces in the back of his mind from a book read so long ago that he can no longer recall the title, only the yellowed fabric cover. Something so unheard of he is surprised he remembers it at all, a bedtime story, a fairytale for the Wizarding world. Something so impossible that it cannot possibly be real, and yet the certainty of it has settled deeply in his bones.
He wonders if she knows. Wonders if she understands the magnitude of what has passed between them (what will pass between them, the voice in the back of his mind hisses). She has grown up in the Muggle world, she likely does not know or understand the intimacy of something that is barely more than a myth, even to most witches and wizards. He throws the fire whiskey back, and pours another drink, fully intending to drink beyond memory. To erase that look in Granger's eyes from his mind.
