Hands up, Cooper does his best to look at Slone while chest to chest with a gun forcing him to tilt his head up, “I don’t know?”
“First you sit at my table. Now you’re asking for drink recommendations?”

“you’re such a beautiful boy when you’re scared.” Then, as suddenly as he had grabbed him, Scarecrow released Edward’s face. “jonny wants to keep you,” Scarecrow rasped, “so you’ll stay here.” Tension snapped in Edward’s chest like a rubber band. A breathless “what” escaped his lips before he could think better of it. It was hard to tell if Edward struggled to breath because of the angle of his neck or because he was choking on Scarecrow himself.

He doesn’t remember how it went from a brutal alley fight to a dilapidated motel, he doesn’t care, because he’s finally brought back to life when she bites his shoulder. It ends in an empty motel room with a prayer of absolution and the beginnings of sunrise on her face.

Slone is dead. Slone died on Typhon. Jack killed her. Slone helped kill Lastimosa. Alice can’t be Slone, because Slone is dead and Slone probably didn’t cuddle drunk pilots or help sneak them back into their barracks. He killed all of them. It’s entirely possible Blisk hired a new crew of Apex Predators, because the original Apex Predators died on Typhon and definitely aren’t picking out snacks in a shitty Angel City convenience store.
Almost everyone lives AU (sorry Ash). After a drunken night on the town, Jack Cooper is unknowingly adopted by the Apex Predators, who barely survived Typhon by the skin of their teeth.
