Summary
Set in GlitchyRobo's Human Domestication Guide setting.
Humanity has been invaded by a precursor race of hypercompetent plant dommes called the Affini, and forcibly given paradise in a post-scarcity culture that heavily prioritizes the care for its protectorates, to the point of drugging and mind-controlling them into a blissful reverie if necessary. For almost everyone this is a vast improvement. All that's required is to give up any silly notions that anyone except for the Affini know what's best for everyone; in many cases the poor things clearly don't.
Charlie Fitzgerald has seen too many instances of moving fast and breaking things to trust the green tide that swept across her city after the aliens came, and in particular, the magic mystery box in her kitchen. They said it could compile anything. She didn't believe them.
A short one-shot ventfic about a news item I found particularly distasteful. No formatting tricks or anything this time. I'm just writing.

Greetings. My name is Imperata Ferrante, One Hundred Thirty Seventh Bloom—though bloom count loses its meaning after thirty thousand Terran years or so as a Compact science ship and about twenty times that in relative simulated time. Not that you would know what that is. Don't strain yourself.
I digress. In my countless millennia on the front line of our Great Work, I have had the privilege of hosting the very first Cotyledon Program for many species. Herein, I have summarized my findings in a simplified manner that lesser intelligences should find palatable. That’s you, little one!
