Now, when Talia interrupted their stream of kisses, Jason had that same expression. It wasn’t Pit-fuelled. His eyes were still the same, stable seafoam. But they were glassy, staring at her like he was seeing right through her. Talia furrowed her brows, stroking his face for a moment. He didn’t flinch, he didn’t show any signs of responsiveness. His hands on her had stilled, obviously recognising that she had stopped. Following her movements. He was purely dissociated, working entirely on instinct. Except this time, there was no car crash. No brain damage, no assailants.
Just him, Talia, and a mattress.
Talia crosses a line. She stops herself, but she cannot shake the guilt.
