It’s inconvenient, at first, having to take the bus everywhere now that he was completely unaligned with Trinity, but then Dr. Abbot starts to offer to take him home. And then to breakfast before he takes him home. And then just to his own home to sleep instead of his apartment with Trinity. And then, the next thing Dennis realizes, when Abbot kisses him, is that he might be dating Dr. Abbot.

He had been in situations like this before but this one felt different...maybe because he had gathered some self-respect by now, maybe because the man seemed too big, too mature...not like the boys his age from church, that had cornered him back at home ...He desperately tried to make eye contact with anyone, hoping they would see the fear in his eyes and somehow help, but who was he kidding, this was a club in the city and everyone had better things to do than be on the lookout for some poor soul who needed help, for a pathetic child like him who couldn't even stand up for himself.
