He's friendless and wandless and the constant sight of his eleven-year-old parents and his parents' eleven-year-old friends walking around and laughing and being alive is not helping him feel any less alone.

Summary
As part of a peace treaty between his homeland and the largest empire in the continent, Desmond is betrothed to Crown Prince Loki, only son and heir of Empress Juno.
He is sent to the empire at a young age for his education as the future emperor consort but everyone knew that he's a political hostage.
Even so, Empress Juno favored him more than her own flesh and blood and her treatment led to the crown prince falling in love with someone else.
While the empress was away, Prince Loki proclaimed the dissolution of their engagement and banished Desmond from the empire.
On his way back home to a kingdom that no longer needed him, he is attacked by assassins sent for his head.

The problem is, he has nothing better to do while Altair’s off on his mission – his unmissable, all-important mission – then to laze about as if he were a kept omega.
Understandably, this rubs him the wrong way; as in, it leaves him a jittery, antsy mess. The flow-on effect of this is that Malik’s right eyelid has developed a permanent twitch. Desmond blames Altair, and thankfully, so does Malik.
Or, Desmond visits Altair in Masyaf.

Summary
Desmond had only been planning on visiting Rome.
He only wanted a small glimpse of the city– of the man who had changed Desmond’s view on life and made him believe it was worth living. Then he would leave and try to deal with the concept of being in the past by himself. But Desmond had never been that lucky. Things never went that easy for him.
Of course he would lose his journal somewhere in Rome, and of course that journal would end up in the hands of Ezio fucking Auditore.Because that was simply Desmond’s luck.
Or, Desmond discovers his ability to draw due to the Bleeding Effect and keeps a journal. A journal which, through some unlikely coincidences, ends up in Ezio’s possession. Things unravel from there.

With the Daily Prophet slandering Harry's name once again - calling him the next Dark Lord of all things! - Harry sets out to find a new purpose for his life. He no longer wishes to be an auror and he wishes to go somewhere else, to a place where no one knows the name 'Harry Potter.' He no longer sees himself with Ginny - having messy, red-haired children. Instead, Harry finds himself a new purpose within his old purpose and sets off to 1944. Unfortunately, he may have gotten the timing a little off. No biggie! He'll make new plans as he goes along. Himself after he’d screamed awake for the hundredth time and his Uncle had come in and expressed his anger. There were bruises along his arms, neck and face. His lip was split and dripping blood slightly, unlike his nose that had a small steady stream. There was a clear handprint around his throat from a much bigger hand than could be left by another kid. The Boggart smirked at him, but Harry felt cold everywhere. He felt incredibly cold or incredibly numb, he wasn't sure which. Maybe it was both.

“And the Black family magic called me a carrier.” Harry added.
“Yes.” Draco nodded, still frowning but looking up at Harry finally.
“And you and I have been fucking around for weeks without any sort of protective spells or anything?” Harry asked, practically hysterical now. Draco’s eyes widened as he finally figured out why Harry was panicking.
“Oh, shit.” Draco said, summoning a bucket quickly as Harry puked into it since he worked himself into a panic attack. So much for eating anything.

Harry was ... depressed. The Tournament stated he was required to participate, somehow. Which was stupid since he hadn't actually entered. Thankfully, he has Fred and George Weasley. Instead of first meeting with the other Champions for the Wand Weighing Ceremony, they're all required to have medical evaluations done to document injuries they have prior to starting everything. Fred and George are acting suspiciously like they suspected this would happen the whole time, but the other Champions fully jump on board the 'protect Harry' train, regardless of what he says.
