If he closed his eyes, he could float here in this sea of tranquility. Where the last heat of the sun caressed his skin, where the birds still sang. And the shadows kept their distance.
Perhaps the world truly is beautiful. And the sun will rise again tomorrow.

Someone used a damp cloth to wipe the sweat from his face and he sobbed with relief at the brief respite from the heat, prompting more hands to appear with more cloth’s, pressing them to any bit of exposed skin they could reach.
The door slammed into the wall, announcing Lord Tywin’s arrival.
“No.”
“I’m sorry, my lord, but all signs point to–”
“No.”
The anger in his father’s voice caused Jaime to curl up in shame, whimpering pathetically as the moment caused the pain in his stomach to increase.
He didn’t understand what was going on…
“Master Jaime has presented as an Omega.”

Even when those same brothers long lost their faith in him, even when they stop considering him their brother, looking back will only slow him down.

If he were Cersei, he would be safe there—if he were Cersei, he wouldn’t be in this hopeless situation. But Jaime closes his eyes and imagines it anyway. They’d welcome him and help him escape Aerys’ clutches. He has no money, no property of his own. Even his degree at university is contingent on Aerys’ whim and coin. His hopeless plight is the same as theirs. As he is now, though, he’d be chased right back off. Would anyone even pause long enough to listen to him? If he could tell anyone what’s happened all these years, would they believe him?
