Robin slowly lowered the tablet with his powerpoint presentation and looked up at Red Hood.
“You care about Gotham,” Robin summarised. “Gotham needs Batman. Batman is missing and so is Nightwing. We need you to fill in for Batman.”
“You want me to cover Batman’s patrols?” Jason clarified.
“No,” Robin said. “I want you to be Batman.”
Jason bluescreened.

“If there’s two hits left, we’d each only get one,” Mike explains. “But if we shotgunned, we’d both get two.” God, this is the best idea he’s had in ages. He should’ve stolen Will’s weed, like, months ago. “That’s like, bang for your buck. This is simple math, Will Byers. Keep up.”
In which it’s well past midnight in New York, Will can’t sleep, and Mike feels like they barely know each other anymore.

So it had been worrying, but understandable, when El was silent as Vecna fell, especially after screaming her voice hoarse while his brain ripped in half or whatever the hell Synaptic Static did to finish him off. Even understandable when she didn’t say a word on the way back to the Wheelers’ house. It was far from the first time El’s voice had abandoned her; it always found its way back to her eventually, and Max could read her well enough, most times, that it made very little difference.
But she’d remained mute even throughout the tedious process of cleaning and bandaging and icing all of her various wounds. She’d been present enough to take the ice pack from Max’s hands and hold it to her own cheek, but not enough to provide any kind of response to Max’s quiet Hey, are you sure you’re okay? When Max sat them both down at the dining room table and El still had nothing to say, Max decided it was officially alarming.
