It was time to move. A one bedroom just wasn’t enough anymore. Two bedrooms was better. Maybe three. A third bedroom could serve as a study space for Tim, and they needed more space to store their stuff. When, not if, Tim invited his friends to spend the night, they deserved to have more space to themselves too.
Bruce would have to agree with his plans and somehow get the Drakes to relinquish custody. Tim was Jason’s, but Jason wasn’t going to kick Bruce out of his life. Bruce could still be included. He just couldn’t be dad anymore. Jason would be the older brother and the father figure. Bruce would be the grandpa, and Alfred, the great-grandpa. Dick would be the brother/uncle, and god, Jason was going to have to start talking to that dick more.

Summary
Tim Drake never actually wanted to become part of the Robin-Batman-vigilante outfit. No, really. But the last Robin up and died, and now Batman is going crazy, and no one else is doing anything about it, so...Tim decides to become Robin. He might as well, right? At the very least it'll give him something to do while his parents are gone.
Still, Tim's not taking up the mantle until he can put a couple of things in order. Step one? Making sure the Joker can't get it into his head to kill another Robin. Not ever again. (Good thing Tim's not the one with a 'no killing' rule.)
And then after that? Well, after that it's only just a matter of keeping Batman from learning Tim's identity and subsequently chasing him off. Not until Bruce can get back on his feet and pick a new Robin, a real one this time. Easy-peasy.

It started with a small twinge in his stomach. It was barely noticable, just enough that Mikey thought maybe he was just hungry. It would make sense, seeing as how he hadn't had much of an appetite all day. He opted to just ignore it for now, until they got back to the lair. They were getting close to done with patrol anyway, and he didn't have the energy to deal with his siblings making fun of him for wanting to bail.
