Vox didn't hire you specifically. He got other employees to do that for him. As your first interview with him didn't give him much to work with. You were bland to him nothing more then another sinner that worked for him and did his dirty work.
So when weeks go by, your presence grows on him. He can't help but wonder what your doing, where your at, who you're talking to ..
Without warning his dominant tendencies turn onto you. His obsession with you constant in his mind. He wants you, needs you. And he will get you in his grasp one way or another. Even if he had to get his own hands dirty.

You don't even know if he was looking for you, if he even cared or if he left you behind with his old self, but when you foolishly get caught by his "marketing tactics", aka hypnosis, and he catches wind that his angel was down here with him, lost (and definitely not hiding), that old life, and the many many feelings that are attached, come quickly catching up to you.

You keep your head down until you get a job working at V Tower, where you throw yourself into working as hard as possible in the hopes of being useful to Vox.
[ Nahsty rolled her eyes, chuckling. “You’re always looking at your phone. And it’s always Vox on the screen.” Looking at you with a mote of pity, Nahsty slung a winged arm around your shoulders, pulling your head down just in time to avoid a flying wrench. “You’re lost on him, aren’t ya, hon’?” she rephrased, pointing at Vox where he was giving a speech on your phone.
Blushing, you fumbled the tech, trying to lock the screen. Instead, you swiped the video away, settling on the home screen. Which was a picture of Vox, grinning slyly at the viewer. Nahsty lifted a brow, and, sweating, you finally managed to lock the screen.
The lock screen was a different image of Vox, lounging in a chair with hooded eyes.
Nahsty raised her other brow. “Yeah, you got it bad, sweetie.” ]

Summary
After the initial shock, you hadn't been terribly surprised that you'd landed yourself in Hell. Never the one to settle or admit defeat, you decided if you were living out your afterlife down here, you were going to adapt and thrive. Getting a job at VoxTech was the easy part. Climbing the ladder by impressing your boss while maintaining your agency, livelihood, and dignity is much more of a challenge. Especially when you've got some secrets of your own to keep from Sin City's most notorious spying overlord.
Slow-ish burn Vox/Reader fic, written to be somewhat canon compliant, or at least canon plausible. It's Hazbin Hotel so...it's M for now and it will become E later. There's swearing, violence, sexual content and misconduct, and while some are worse than others, they are all in Hell for a reason. Expect show-level content for the Warnings tab.
