This is the tale of a Dragonslayer who, by accident, magically fertilizes a dragon's egg. Caught between his duty as a knight and his duty as a parent, Tartaglia decides to raise the egg alongside the dragon who laid it until the day it can be determined whether this half-human, half-dragon child is a threat to humanity or not. Along the way, he is forced to unlearn everything he's been taught about the species he'd dedicated his life to eradicating.
Where all is lost, there is something new to be found. And perhaps he was not the only one who was lost.

When Wriothesley ascended from the underworld, equipped with all the files and necessary documentation for his regularly scheduled meeting with the Chief Justice, the first thing he noticed was the noise.
Soft pitter-patters bounced against the metal encasing of the lift, creating an echo in the chamber as he continued upward, the light pings of sound gradually increasing in tempo and weight. By the time the elevator reached its terminus, droplets were barraging from every direction; only seconds spent aboveground, and Wriothesley was already damp from the spray.
A heavy knot of dread settled in the pit of his stomach.
Neuvillette.
OR: It rains in the Court. Wriothesley jumps to conclusions.

And yet, it is decorated with things that belong to them both. Trinkets and tokens and things that make their very beings—their clothes and uniforms resting beside each other in the closet, their shoes on the shoe rack left without space between them, their scents lingering in each room.
Tonight, the Iudex and the Duke return home to rest.
After work puts them both through the wringer, Neuvillette and Wriothesley unwind together on a Sunday and reset each other for the upcoming morning.

Distress claws at him, sinking squalid claws into the soft part of his soul, and before he can fully process his own movements, Childe’s wrist is trapped under his hand, and his claws—oh, his claws—dig into soft flesh.
Childe helps Zhongli through a heat.

By the time he opens the door to the cottage, he feels so exhausted that he can barely keep his eyes open. He walks straight into something firm and hard yet gentle and soft at the same time, and before he can look up he is embraced within the arms of the one he loves the most. A loving kiss is placed on his temple, and Xie Lian practically melts into his husband.
“You were gone for longer than anticipated, Gege, I missed you,” Hua Cheng whispers, delicately squeezing his waist before leaning back so that he can see Xie Lian’s face.
A frown immediately replaces the lazy smile that his husband was wearing. “Are you alright, Gege? Your eyes are drooping.”
(Or, Xie Lian doesn't know how to stop moving and has a habit of taking on too much. Hua Cheng is there to remind him that it’s okay to rest, and that he doesn’t have to bare any burden alone anymore. He also has his friends to remind him of the very same.)

The omega blinks at him drowsily, pale eyes half-lidded. His hair is a mess, sleep-matted and in desperate need of a good brushing after all the times Wriothesley knotted his fingers into it. With the quilt bunched up around his arms and his features softened by sleep, he looks smaller than usual; not childlike, but smoothed out and serene. He’s not so untouchable like this, the armaments of his titles removed with just the man left behind.
(Wriothesley’s always, every single time, stunned that he alone gets to see this.)
Neuvillette's still learning how to let go after sharing his first heat with Wriothesley. He needs a little convincing.
