Summary
Vergil paid the price for his father's war, enduring years of torture at Mundus' hand. But he was given a second chance at life. A son. A relationship with his brother. A place of peace. Still, nothing feels right. He's tormented by the past and painful longing for the only thing that has ever brought him comfort: her. Nero's mother and his lover.
After returning from Hell with Dante, he's given a chance to see her again, but the cost will be high.

Summary
The demoness lunged at Dante, her hands coming to grab his head tightly and the red half-devil flinched as he felt her lips against his.
She kissed him hard and her tongue slithered inside his mouth, parting his teeth with surprising strength.
The hunter felt something cold and sleek pass from her body into his throat and he flinched.
He snapped his head back, breaking her hold and pushed her back with all his strength. The demoness crashed down and Dante scrambled away from her.
He gagged and coughed at the awful sensation of having been forced to swallow something strange.
Something ...alive.

"Dante said you were in need of assistance, what is this about ?” Vergil asked Nero, his eyes finally focusing back on the car.
“Assistance ? No, Dante told me you were working on a case here. So I came to help you.” Nero mumbled in confusion.
Vergil looked back at him and they stared at each other in silence.
“Dante…” They both hissed in annoyance at the same time.

A week after coming back from the Underworld Dante lies to Vergil and Nero in order to get them on the same mission. Father and son awkwardly get to work together and talk for the first time.
The only problem is that Nero might have forgotten to tell his father that he is still wounded from his previous mission....

“All you ever cared for was power… I thought you could change ! But you’re just a fucking monster ! ” Dante shouted and tears were flowing down his face freely.
“You’re wrong !” Vergil exclaimed and he was looking terribly pale despite the blood clinging to his skin. “I have no hand in this!”
“L-Liar…” a weak and hoarse voice choked out and both twins froze. One of the humans was looking at Vergil intently. “You…attacked us. You told the boy, you needed more p-power…”
“What?” Vergil whispered as he watched the human in shock.
Dante’s pain flared again. So he was going to try to deny it until the end ? Despite all the witnesses and Nero’s bleeding form lying on the ground ?
“Go back to Hell where you belong. I...I wish you never came back from that grave…” Dante mumbled hoarsely.
“Dante, please… I…” The blue twin whispered, and there was much pain in his voice.
“Just go. And if I ever see you again… I’ll kill you. There is no place for you here.” Dante spat and these words ... they hurt so much.

"And now what ? Are you going to let me leave ?” Vergil asked, his tone icy.
“What? You can’t leave !” Dante exclaimed in shock.
“I can and I will. So? What are you going to do? Take my choice away again ? Then what ? Hold me prisoner in that shop of yours ? Should I call you “Master”, like Mundus ? Will you chain me to another wall, so that I can’t run away as well? ” Vergil scoffed, poison dripping from his words.
“You know what? Yeah, maybe I will. At least I’ll be sure that you won’t be going on another rampage.” Dante openly mocked him. “ You got any other kid to mangle?”
“Then let’s settle this once and for all.” The blue twin hissed.
“Fine. One last duel, but I have a condition.” Dante smirked. “If you win, I won’t interfere with your life ever again. Whatever you do, you’ll have my blessing.”
“And if I lose ?” The blue twin asked, his razor sharp focus on Dante.
“I’ll take the Yamato and you’ll become my slave. I’ll be free to do whatever I wish to you, and you won’t ever be free again.” The hunter hoped that the fear of captivity would be enough to snap him out of his rage.
“Fine.” Vergil whispered and Dante felt his blood turn cold. Shit.

Summary
"What the fuck, old man?!"
Now, although Dante is not entirely happy with the "old man" title, the first part of the sentence reflects his feelings on the matter perfectly. Lying among the garbage bags, he squints his eyes to get a good look at the attacker. But the sun is shining right into his eyes, and all he can see at the moment is a bright hair color, short stature, slim build and an elongated form in his hand. And a voice that, when the little shit starts yelling again, sounds quite high-pitched and young. And very, very angry.
"First you fuck off somewhere after damping a load of dramatic bullshit on me and now you are here? With a guitar case, of all things?! What are you, a pretty rock band singer now? Do you even have a slightest idea what I've been feeling all this time?! I... I thought you dead-"
Then he suddenly stops and looks at Dante intently. Something changes in his eyes, and then his gaze switches to the remains of the red coat, which Dante continues to hold in his hand.
"Oh," he says.Or: AU, where Dante is a little more adept at catching his brother, Vergil (just a little bit) - at being a father and Mundus needs a little more time to come up with his Evil Scheme.

“What do you want ?” Vergil spat, standing defensively in front of Nero.
“I think you already know. I want Nelo Angelo.” Mundus' lackey chuckled, taking a few steps closer. “ It can be that child, or it can be you, but I’m not sure how long that boy will last.”Vergil glanced back at Nero, he couldn’t leave him to suffer that fate. It was above his strength and that monster was aware of that. There was no real choice here and they both knew it. Another lifetime of torture and slavery until his demise for a chance at Nero’s salvation. A one way trip back into his worst nightmares.
“So ? Do we have a deal ?” The demon asked.
"Yes."

It's Mother's Day and Nero wants some answers about his biological mother. He goes to confront his father and it leaves their relationship in shambles.
But even after their violent dispute, Vergil is ready to do anything to save his son when Mundus comes after Nero. -

Another root sprouting from the dirt almost sent Dante crashing face first on the ground. Vergil teleported right before his crumbling silhouette and the red twin landed on his older brother's back.
“Hold on to me.” Vergil said as his hands shifted to grab the back of the hunter’s knees.
“What? No, I can walk, I just…”
“You need to rest. So sleep and heal. I’ll walk.” He cut the red twin off as he pushed on his legs and stood up, carrying his brother on his back.
“It’s not fair.” He protested softly but his arms shifted to wrap around his neck, his head resting on his shoulder.
“Life isn’t fair, Dante.” Vergil hummed.
“One day I’ll give you a piggyback ride too, so we’ll be even.” The hunter huffed groggily and the blue twin could feel him relax.
“Over my dead body.” Vergil scoffed, rolling his eyes at his nonsense.

After the events of DMC5 Dante and Vergil are stuck in the Underworld.
Dante is sick and needs to go back to the Human World, but Vergil can't follow him there. No matter how much he wants to.
The harsh truth is that Dante is not the only one who is sick, but the blue half-devil can't let his little brother know that. -
