It was a black apron, with the simple yet elegant logo “Wayne Co” in white at the chest and large seam-line pockets at the hips and front.“No biting words today? Someone’s in a good mood.” Jason teases, “After Dick and I went through all that trouble to get you and that dough boy together you could at least throw me a bone.”
Dough boy?
Tim remembers the hickeys and can’t help but fidget embarrassed. Who was this dough boy that this Tim had been set up with?!

It happened so fast that Tim almost couldn’t comprehend it. One moment they were having a perfectly fine time talking and eating Ma Kent’s pie and the next the Kent’s shed was decimated, fire burning so strong there were heatwaves in the air, and Kon was down, thrown aside with a single mighty punch that sent him dragging in the dirt creating a deep trench where he had skid a good miles at least.“Kon!” Tim yelled from the porch of the Kent’s home.
He had on only his civilian clothing but even so he couldn’t help but run out towards the danger, towards Kon.
That’s when he saw him. Tim froze instantly, going rigid.

Like Kon hadn’t noticed. The subtle glances between his exes every time he did—literally anything. He’d raise an eyebrow, and they’d exchange looks. Say something offhand, and Tim would glance at Cassie, who’d give him that "I know" face like they were sharing some long-running commentary on him.

Once upon a time, he might’ve liked to have everything done and systematic. He wanted to be good for Batman at the start, then prove himself worthy of the name ‘Robin’ in the best way he could. He hated getting bored and loved a cold case to solve or people to analyse in order to understand them better.
Now, it was a need. He needed things done. He had to take care of something far greater than himself or his boredom. It wasn’t fun anymore. Well, it never really was fun, but either something close to that or something he could pretend was fun; it wasn’t something to relax to, something to calm his mind or occupy him. It was an ‘I have to’.
He could get out of this, but...he didn’t want to. He wanted his best friend to kidnap him and take him far away from this city and his responsibilities.
Kon smiled brightly. Tim’s lips quirked up, too, involuntarily.
“Pack up, Boy Wonder! We're leaving! Right. Now.”

Kon is struggling to keep his kryptonian quirks in his control. The unknown cause bringing him to Gotham. As Batman works to figure it out a cure he is stuck in city and worse, going to school there. At least it will only be for a few months max, then he's back to soaring around, seeing his friends, back to his normal life, and gone from this boring city. Besides he finds an interesting person to hang around while stuck here.
Tim is confused. The universe had to be messing with him. Because that was Kon. Standing in his classroom. Which no, absolutely not, it shouldn’t be. Kon was supposed to be going to his small town school in Smallville, and if for whatever reason he wasn’t there then he should be in Metropolis. Not Gotham, not at his school, and definitely not his class.

Tim wanted to scream. He wanted to beat his fists bloody. He wanted Kon back and if he had to kill a god to do it then he would. He would do it gladly.
But he couldn't snap here. Not as close to this miracle as he was. He needed the deity and he needed this trade and that amounted to more than any of his trembling wants. “Ask anything of me,” he promised, gaze unfaltering beneath the deity’s judgment. “And I will deliver.”

In this world, Kon died and stayed dead. In this world, Tim loses his mind trying to get him back, and he ends up striking a deal with a deity who grants his desire. For a price. One that he doesn’t realize the true weight of until it’s too late.
