Tommy was not going here. There was no way. He would starve himself before he spent a day there. It was vile, designed to make sure you stay alive while crushing your hope of escaping, through either the literal sense of freedom, or death.
He had— he had done so much. Tommy was exhausted. Exhausted from the fighting, from the mourning, from the separation. He might never see Tubbo again, so what was the harm in just… leaving? He had no one else to live for.
Tommy’s breath started to quicken, and it didn’t help that the arm around him tightened. He could start to see spots in his vision—hold it in for eight—he was going to suffocate.
Tommy passed out.

not to wax poetic on main, but this piece perfectly encapsulates what it was that drew me into the dream smp in the first place. this isn't the Bad Ending, so much as it is the Raw Ending. it strips back the more humourous and deus ex machina aspect of the storyline (which i will argue for as a major component for the understanding of this server as a whole) and gets to the core of the emotions involved. i don't know, i don't have a lot of words, but it's rare to come across a piece that leaves you breathless, and this is one of those.

Tommy is an aspiring hero in a city full of the most powerful heroes. He's not well liked by the civilians and other heroes - more importantly, the police force, who is after him any chance they get. Despite the constant criticism, he tries his best to help.
After a battle with the Pyromanic Sapnap went wrong, he met some of his favorite heroes - the Sleepy Bois Inc, the most powerful in the city - no, the world. He'd looked up to them since he was small (er, smaller).
"What the fuck kind of name is Wife Haver, anyways?"
Clearly, the adoration was not mutual.

“It’s nothing. I’m handling it. But, please? Just let me deal with this.”
“Wilbur’s going to kill me.”
“I’ll kill you if you tell him, so. Make your choice.”
Techno stared at Tommy, saying nothing, but contemplating his options. Then, he heaved a heavy sigh. “I’m giving you one week to figure it out. If not, I’m telling Phil and I’m telling Wilbur. Do you understand?”

They stay that way for a long time, Catra’s face tucked into Adora’s shoulder, Adora gently cradling Catra’s head. Adora is careful not to hug Catra too hard or make her feel restrained, anticipating the moment that Catra will start to pull away — but Catra doesn’t. She hangs on so tightly it hurts, her claws digging through Adora’s jacket and into her back, latching into her like she did when she was a kitten and didn’t know how much her claws could hurt. Adora tries not to wince, tries not to move a single muscle, worried that if she does the spell will break and Catra will struggle away, appalled at having shown weakness.
But Catra doesn’t let go. And so neither does Adora.

He breathes out heavily, watching Wilbur cross the floor with a med kit in his hands. He’d originally insisted for Tommy to go to the hospital, but he had refused.
The last thing that Tommy wanted to do was have Aunt Puffy call up and find out he’s been hospitalised. She’d throw a fit, probably ban him from returning to the Tower, etc. It’d be a whole thing, really.
“Wil. I’m not an idiot for trying to stop a robbery,” he tries again, narrowing his eyes as Wilbur sets the kit down on the table beside him and flicks the lid open. “They were going to hurt someone if I wasn’t there. You saw them, right? They could’ve—”
“They could’ve killed you,” Wilbur interrupts, shooting him that look that tends to shut Tommy up immediately.

i typically make a funny little joke in my bookmarks because they help me remember what i've bookmarked but all i have to say for this one is that it made me cry quite a bit. it put into words exactly everything i could never explain aloud. i sincerely hope the author is ok, especially because i understand the mental toll they had been feeling. if the author ever reads this, you just... beautifully captured the feeling. highly recommend
