Rozanov cocked his head. “You speak Russian? Or just the curse words?”
“Yes, I speak Russian,” he snapped, defensive and angry. He knew that it had been a mistake to even try to be friendly with Rozanov. “Why? Do I not look Russian to you?” He scoffed.
“No, not really,” Rozanov said. Some of his teammates laughed, although they mostly looked surprised that Shane was speaking to them at all. Rozanov didn’t laugh, though. “Are you Russian?”
“Go fuck yourself.”

Despite an inauspicious start, when Russia’s Ilya Rozanov learns that Canada’s Shane Hollander is fluent in Russian at their first World Junior Championships tournament, it changes everything and sets them on a different course. Instead of being branded as rivals from the very beginning, Ilya and Shane start off as friends.

The air is still warm from this day that has already slipped away, and the traffic somewhere distant reminds Draco a little of the ocean heard from far off. The sweet, slightly acrid scent of tobacco lingers in the air, and Draco can scarcely believe he’s here, right now, in this slightly unreal pocket of time, laughing on a crummy back stoop with Potter.
what a tenderly-crafted atmosphere this story has! really sweet dialogues and interactions between all the characters and i love the little idiosyncracies of the slytherin gang

Summary
Names had a peculiar sort of power. Naming something formed its nature, in a way. There had been no angel of the eastern gate before the Almighty spoke the name “Aziraphale;” a fallen angel had not become a creeping serpent until he heard the name “Crawly.”
But nature also informed the connotations of a name. The thousands of cheated merchants, scandalized priests and scathingly-reviewed poets who had uttered the name “Crowley!” in anger throughout the years had given the name its dark and bitter taste.
Anthonys, however, remained relentlessly ordinary. Anthonys were greengrocers, maths teachers, nervous and lovestruck young men who wore glasses and could hardly speak to the objects of their affections.
If “Crowley” was ninety percent pure cacao, “Anthony” was at best milk chocolate.

“Well, angels do.” Aziraphale was leaning forward in his chair, his hands folded together almost prayerfully. He looked at Crowley with wide eyes as if he were trying to convey something desperately important. “If there’s something I can do for you — anything, really — just say the word.”
"Do you mean like an assignment in America?” Crowley said, naming a place Aziraphale never liked to go because he found it loud and distracting and evangelical. “Bit of temptation in Washington?”
"If you like.” There were two spots of drunken color high on Aziraphale’s cheeks. “Or something else, I only mean to say that I am at your service.”

Like, actually. He very nearly loses balance for no reason at all and tumbles to the sidewalk next to his car. He’s been playing Aziraphale’s voice in his head for weeks, he’s been trying very hard to drown out the sound of it, in fact, and now suddenly, abruptly—
“What are you doing here,” is all he can think to say. He whirls around, and there he is. On Crowley’s right, standing there like he’d never left. Where he belongs, Crowley’s mind helpfully supplies. He wishes he could punch himself in the brain, knock the thoughts right on out of there.

Crowley occasionally visits a desecrated chapel that has a statue of uncanny similarity to a certain someone he could never forget even if he wanted to. One time, while he's there, that same someone walks in.
Angst, attempted apologies and a disaster demon who wants nothing more than to be loved ensue.
