This story follows the moments when the various members of the Party realize that Steve Harrington is truly and irrevocably in love with Nancy Wheeler.
(This is really an anthology of short stories and drabbles all set with the same theme. Each chapter is from a different characters POV and set at a different point in the timeline.)

Summary
It wasn’t all bad. Some of the best moments of Steve’s life were caught up in the monster hunting and the dimension hopping. Maybe all the best moments. It’s impossible to really regret something that brought you together with everyone you really love.
But maybe he was alone in that.
----December 1990. Nancy asks Steve to help her investigate the case of teenage girl who has gone missing.
Steve and Nancy solving a mystery together, some mutual pining and lack of communication, some danger, realizing what we all already know (that they're still in love), and Lucas and Max getting involved eventually.

“What is the deal with you right now?” Steve asks after a long moment of looking at her like she’s an alien creature (and they know a thing or two about those).
She widens her eyes, shrugs sweetly, chews on her stirrer and sucks up the rest of her watered-down vodka.
“There’s no deal. You packed up your entire life and moved to Massachusetts without telling me- what’s your ‘deal’?”His mouth parts in shock and something so close to hurt that it makes Nancy’s stomach clench. With a contemplative tilt of his head he replies, “Last time I checked, we’re not friends, Nancy. That was something you decided, remember?”
