Summary
Dennis' crush on his attending is just that - a crush. Despite his roommate's constant teasing, he's not about to do anything anyone is going to regret. He's been fine for three months, thank you very much, and today isn't going to be any different.
Except Trinity's in trouble the same day there's rumours of staff cuts, Robby hasn't been himself in weeks, and Dennis seems to be in the middle of all of it.
So how much could change in 15 hours?

Summary
After the Fourth of July, Robby leaves.
Whitaker follows.
Somewhere between Pittsburgh and the Great Plains, Dennis convinces him to come home.
Or: A getting-together oneshot that turned into a series about Robby and Dennis figuring out what they want to be to each other. Featuring yearning, hurt (but also comfort), Jack Abbot serving as Robby’s unlicensed therapist, Trinity Santos suffering more than Jesus, quite a lot of smut, actually, and gratuitous references to the great state of Nebraska.

Summary
During a lonely night on the abandoned 8th floor, Whitaker is spiraling. He decides to make a phone call.
~
“Whitaker, it's 2 AM.”
Whitaker let out a shaky breath. “Yeah.”
“Why are you calling me?”
He didn't know how to answer that question. There was no way to answer that question without embarrassing himself.
Sorry, Dr. Robby. I’m lonely. I miss my family. I'm thinking about all of the patients I’ve lost. I know you've lost hundreds more, and I know this is just part of the job, and I should just get used to it, but my fucking soul hurts. I feel like a failure. I miss my mom. I wish she loved me more than she loves God. Is that a fucked up thing to say?
Maybe I’m not cut out for this.

Summary
Dennis recounted all of this on the rooftop every morning, almost like a prayer. How he’d gotten here. It wasn’t a sudden morning, waking up with the realization that God had abandoned him. It was slow, painful. Of feeling farther and farther from the light, of drifting away wordlessly from the only truth he’d ever known. There was no moment where it hit that he didn’t believe anymore. It just was.
Dennis had never been able to escape the ghost of Nebraska. But maybe with some confessions and newfound belonging, he finally could.
Or five times Dennis Whitaker held onto something, and the one time he let go.

"I do not have favorites, you just hate me." Robby eyes Heather.
"Okay, Robby. Whatever you say." Heather smirks at him. "Pretty boy!" She shouts to Whitaker.
He eventually looks up when Trinity nudges him and he points to himself. "Oh! I'm pretty boy?"
"Yes!" Heather smiles widely. "You're with me, come on!"

Summary
The first couple of dollars that the machine ate up without remorse were an annoyance, something that made Dennis sigh and unzip his wallet without thinking about it to try again. By the time that the vending machine had eaten seven whole dollars, in coins, and Dennis didn’t have anything to show for it, he was close to thumping his forehead against the cool glass and hoping he could derive some sort of enjoyment or nourishment from simply just looking at the colourful packages as they remained firmly in their coils.

“Do you actually, y’know, like him?”
Dennis bristled. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
Santos put up her hands defensively. “Hey, I’ve got nothing against the guy. Robby’s a great doctor and a good boss. I just… I mean he is like twice your age, man.”
Dennis simply shrugged. “Maybe I have a thing for crows' feet, ever thought about that?”

Summary
The last time Dennis had a conversation with Robby before the day they tumbled down a bridge together was a little over a year ago. It was minutes before dawn. The hallway light was just bright enough to illuminate the horror in the older man’s eyes.
“I’m sorry,” he said to Dennis, choking on the words and rubbing a palm over his eyes. His chest was heaving with breaths as if he'd just witnessed the end of the world instead of holding Dennis naked in his arms.

Dr Robby can't stand the breakroom coffee anymore. He didn't care if that made McKay call him 'bougie' (which meant something other than an intubation bougie, he was now learning).
Dana usually enabled his caffeine habit. But now that she was on a well-deserved break from the Pitt, he has to make the journey to the staff cafeteria himself.
When he gets to know the sad-eyed barista behind the counter, he can't help but keep coming back for more.
A Hucklerobby Coffee Shop AU, featuring our favorite Nebraskan boy as a Med School dropout and the grouchy Dr Robby that we all know and love.

Summary
“Yes,” she says. “Because he was flirting with you and he knows it, and now he’s panicking like a Victorian maiden who accidentally saw an ankle.”
Dennis stares, stunned. “He wasn’t—”
She lifts a brow.
He swallows. The memory of the car ride flashes through him—Robby’s hand on his thigh, squeezing for half a moment, and the way he smiled, flustered.
“Oh,” he murmurs, realization sinking with somewhat of a dullness in his chest.
Santos beams like a proud parent. “There it is.”
Or, some boundaries are crossed, and both Dennis and Robby are freaking out about it.
