Sunstreaker had damaged their bond. It had cracks. The cracks weren’t healing by leaving them alone. They were spreading.
Seven weeks after events of Sideswipe’s Secret Vacation Spot, Sunstreaker is pulling away from Sideswipe — shutting him out.
Sideswipe can’t live his best life without his brother, and is determined to out stubborn him, discovering why Sunny's got his head crammed so far up his own aft that his perspective is becoming distorted.
(Hurt/comfort in the aftermath of a sci-fi body violation of autonomy where the comfort between Sideswipe & Sunstreaker is a return to a toxic codependent dysfunctional equilibrium they find soothing, rather than the beginning of healing Ratchet would like to see.)

“I’m trying to find our new balance point.” Sideswipe shuffled a little with a few overly dramatic grunts, struggling to get comfortable. “Your emotions all falling the wrong way around from being walled off with your head transformed up your aft.” He gave up trying to get comfortable without pressing against Sunstreaker too hard, and pulled a rifle out of his subspace. “And I’m not missing out on a free back massage with all your rumbling ‘grrrrrrrr, oooo I’m so scary because I’m so talented and planning an entire rescue operation with the enemy in seconds with a fail safe in case I loved looking at myself with your optics so much and fighting Megatron while destroying my entire life’s work was so easy: fear me’ — don’t make me gag.” He started loading his weapon. “I’ll tell you what’s easy: I’ll be me, and you just sit there being you.”
