If you were to ask Senku what he thinks of “Great mentalist and magician” Asagiri Gen, he would tell you that the guy is a fraudulent trickster, a terrible writer and a pretentious loser.
That was a year ago, though.
Because, as of today, Gen has become, to Senku, an essential asset, a trusted confidant and a precious friend, someone he genuinely can’t fathom ever leaving his side: Gen, with his witty mouth and brilliant mind, has managed, in the span of only a few months, to carve himself an irreplaceable spot in Senku’s life.
In his heart.
Well, Senku thinks, that’s embarrassing.
Dammit the old man and his foresight.

Summary
Senku has never regretted a choice this much in his life. Genuinely.
The idea of spending the next several hours bundled in a suit, shirt buttoned all the way up and bowtie around his neck has him physically hurting, and he curses the day he agreed with Byakuya’s idea; sure, going to the party would allow him to obtain extremely useful connections and broaden his network, all at the single cost of having to spend the night wearing uncomfortable clothes and having even more uncomfortable conversations with rich, pompous people.
Ugh. Knowing the factors, he’s sure: the upcoming night will be awful.
Or so he thought.
Because, despite his careful planning and pessimistic forecasting, Senku had not accounted for one, small, unpredictable, annoying-ass variable:

The words struck a raw, agonizing nerve. ‘Playing domestic.’
The casual jab hovering in the air like an unsolved, frustrating equation. He knew Ryusui was right. They had spent months sharing a roof, sharing meals, and sharing glances that meant everything, yet they were fundamentally standing on a fragile glass floor.
“Hah. You and Ukyo don’t know a lick of what ‘no PDA’ means.” Senku scratched the inside of his ear with his pinky, a classic look of clinical disgust plastering his face.
“You can’t blame me. Ukyo is far too irresistible and I am greedy as hell,” Ryusui deadpanned, entirely unbothered by the critique.
