Robin slowly lowered the tablet with his powerpoint presentation and looked up at Red Hood.
“You care about Gotham,” Robin summarised. “Gotham needs Batman. Batman is missing and so is Nightwing. We need you to fill in for Batman.”
“You want me to cover Batman’s patrols?” Jason clarified.
“No,” Robin said. “I want you to be Batman.”
Jason bluescreened.

Donnie paused what he was doing, the tap of his fingers against the tablet going still.
There was no sensation present in his body that could be called hunger. If anything, his body felt like it was a wisp, blended into the background of everything else. His stomach didn't exist. Hunger itself was created by the hormone ghrelin triggering the muscles to contract after a period of fasting, creating a bodily sensation meant to motivate a someone to eat. No such sensation was present, just a fuzzy blankness.
"No." Donnie answered honestly, tipping his head back down to his screen.

Donnie blamed the lack of coffee he had this morning, he really did. If he had just made that black cup of bitter coffee, the comment wouldn't had so foolishly slipped out. He didn't even remember what led him to say such a stupid thing. All he could recall was pale lanky arms tenderly embracing him, lovingly whispering sweet nothings, calling him gorgeous and beautiful, all while brushing his chapped lips against Donnie's pale green neck. The heat in the turtle's face was apparent and couldn't help but squirm a bit under Casey's benevolent touches and compliments. He had felt so loved that he almost believed he was as beautiful and wonderful as Casey claimed. Almost.

Despite the levity of his words, there was a thread of actual guilt woven in bright neon embroidery. But Donnie hadn't said anything on purpose, and Leo had passed all his classes this semester and deserved to go out and have fun.
"Shut up." Donnie provided that absolutely ground breaking reply without so much as lifting his head.
"I actually can't shut up. Like, legally. It's kind of like that movie Speed, except if I stop talking I'll explode. Woah! Hey, look, that's our house. Wave at me from the window?"
Donnie tried to listen hard enough to pick out the sound of a Ford Focus pulling up to their curb through the hum of late-night New York City traffic. He did not get up and wave at the window, because that would involve moving, and Donnie had decided he wasn't doing that anymore.
