Quickly, Jiang Cheng swipes at his communicator to go back to the previous job listing.
An escort job. Number of passengers: one. Pick-up location: one, view coordinates. He taps to view said coordinates of the pick-up location and finds that he’s already in there: The Canary’s Nest.
He looks up with a narrowed glare at Huaisang, who is humming as he swirls the contents of his mug.
Huaisang smiles. He’s so pretty. He’s so annoying - “I told you you’ll let me into your ship eventually.”
Jiang Cheng goes back to the job details - Destination/s: one. He views the coordinates and it shows him a planet and its name: Qinghe.
Or: Space bounty hunter Jiang Cheng is kinda-sorta dating that cute singer at his favorite bar, forgets to ask important questions, and gets roped into space politics shenanigans, as you do. It'll be fine. Probably.

He’s a grifter. He’ll be working with us for this job, because there’s no way I am letting you kids anywhere near that building. No. You will assist, but we’ll let the professional handle this.”
Nie Huaisang frees himself from the hand shutting him up, eyes shining. “A-... A-Cheng, you called me a professional…”

“Speak,” Lan Wangji demands, but he doesn’t sound too sure all of a sudden, doesn’t seem too happy with the proceedings, and Jiang Cheng does rather enjoy the feeling of triumph it brings him.
“I am innocent. I did not kill any demonic cultivators, nor did I torture them.”
His voice rings out in the courtyard because everyone is silent for two seconds, but then chaos erupts. The voices calling him a liar are the kinder ones, and Jiang Cheng shakes his head at them.
“And I have proof,” he continues, raising his voice so that it carries over the others.

Summary
Jiang Cheng wrote three times a year for over a decade and a half requesting that Lan Sizhui come and visit. Suddenly, Lan Sizhui finds himself in the home of the father he'd forgotten, but surrounded by his things. "Hey," Uenoyama spits, throwing his current guitar pick at Akihiko's head. It soars through the air, its sleek glossy red finish catching the fluorescent lights overhead before it pings off Akihiko's shoulder. The other man doesn't even bother trying to dodge it, just arches his eyebrows and grins, just a little. "I didn't come up with this alone! Mafuyu, tell him!"
"The bit before where the chorus goes is based off the riffs Haruki was warming up with that last week." Mafuyu also adds, "he let me pick out the chords for the opening too. Does that count?"
"Congratulations," Akihiko says dryly, ignoring Mafuyu's statement completely, "you've made him even cockier than he already was."
"He has not," Uenoyama shouts, the pitch of his voice climbing an octave, loud enough to make Haruki wince.
Mafuyu gives Akihiko the same smile that always makes Hiiragi snarl about how he's a little shit and answers, "that's okay, I like it when he's cocky."
Uenoyama makes a noise that is only barely within the range of human hearing, carefully lifts his guitar from over his head to drop it in a guitar stand, and then drops on the ground to curl up in a ball.
