Summary
In the aftermath of Baelor's death, the Targaryen family splinters. All Maekar wants is to hold the remnants of his family close, but even he knows that Aerion cannot stay here, not with Baelor's ghost still wandering the halls.
Dunk has had enough of princes for a lifetime, but Baelor's memory will not let him turn away from the wreckage before him. When Maekar begs him to take Aegon on as his squire, he accepts, and when Maekar begs him to look after Aerion, Dunk cannot turn him away. He is determined to fulfill his duty as Baelor's man, and to do it well, Aerion be damned.
Aerion's life crumbles down around his shoulders in the span of a single afternoon. The Maesters say his leg may never fully heal, his own father cannot look him in the eye, and his family wishes he had died in his uncle's stead. When he finds himself exiled to Lys with only the brother who hates him and the knight who maimed him for company, he is certain he's being sent off to die.
Fortunately, the gods have other plans.

Damn, aerion fucking anybody but dunk in this damn fic 😭 WHAT AM I READING IT FOR THEN!! Lmaooo I kid I kid. This one is defffff a plot heavy slow burn, what a wild turn of events!! Lmfao aerion using every opportunity to piss me off, bless him. Fun getting to see this from THREE povs than the usual two. I love you egg!!!!! Almost wish if there wasn’t much aerion x dunk overlap I wish I’d get to see more dunk & egg 😭 but still very sweet to see their relationship and how much egg admires and adores dunk. Reads Call Me By Your Name once, HAHAHAHAHAH. No but fr I’m really enjoying this one!! Aerion’s self conscious and self loathing is reading so sweet to me for some reason. I love putting that twink through pain… it’s just so endearing to be so nervous and work so hard to be nonchalant you implode ur life, and something about “not being a good person” and not trying to be charms me. Love his hoe phase, baby you’re sexy as hell!! Dying to know what dunk thinks of him… love that he’s only been mean to him so far HAHA cause if some gorgeous twink was nasty to me I’d be agonizing over him 24/7
