Summary
This is what they do for each other. Will has been sleeping in Mike’s bed with him every night for almost 6 months straight, at Mike’s insistence. This mandatory quarantine has been shitty for so many reasons but the Byers staying in the Wheeler house is not one of them. If Will can’t sleep or has a nightmare, Mike’s there to hold him until he stops shaking. And Will does the same for him. Every time. Like it’s the easiest thing in the world.
OR
Will learns what happened at the quarry.
TW for implied suicidal thoughts and some brief descriptions of panic.

Summary
“You know exactly what I mean, Mike.” Will snaps, turning back around. He continues walking away from the front door—away from Mike—his pace increasing as he tugs his creaky old bike along with him.
“No, actually, apparently I don’t know anything anymore!” Mike jolts forwards, following Will—who has now left the cover of the porch and is being soaked in rainfall—and grabbing him by the shoulder. Will stops walking and turns around, but he flinches back as if Mike’s touch has burned him. Mike removes his hand. “I thought I knew that we were a team now; I thought I knew that things were good,” Mike continues, shivering and brushing his now wet hair from his forehead. “But here you are, telling me I’d like it if you were dead, trying to run away without even saying a word to me—do you know how that fucking feels?”

Will tries to leave in the middle of the night. Mike stops him.

Summary
“Looks like I bit you.” Will tilts his head to get a better look. All Mike can do is stare at him. His fluffy hair at the front, clumped pieces at the back where he’d slid his fingers in a mere few minutes before. His pretty green eyes that look hazel or even brown in this light, the dark circles he gets when he drinks framing them like intricate paintings. A satisfied, bloody smile.
Mike isn’t satisfied. He swallows thickly, choking down the words 'don’t you want more?'
Or: Will dresses as a vampire for a college halloween party, but Mike thinks his costume isn’t bloody enough. Will lets him fix it. Mike goes into a crisis.

Summary
The raging storm would ordinarily be uncharacteristic of spring, but the world’s on the verge of collapse, so Will lets it slide. But it’s impossible to close his eyes and block out the crackling across the dark sky, a parallel to the deafening split of Hawkins.
His headphones blare into his ears to muffle the storm, and he pauses the scratching of his pencil across the page when he notices the minute hand on the clock tick over to twelve.
Nothing changes. Vecna’s still alive and waiting to take everything for himself. On every birthday for the last four years, Will’s wondered if it would be his last. This year is no different.
Five times Will Byers makes a birthday wish, and the one time it comes true.

Summary
Mike’s grip tightens around the wheel. “I missed you too,” he says, caught red-handed in between something teasing and something true. No matter where they are, no matter what’s happening, this has always been the truth: “I miss you.”
He hears the click of Will’s teeth as he closes his mouth, inhaling short through his nose like he’s surprised. Like Mike wasn’t supposed to say that out loud. Then, “Don’t be sad. You’re not allowed to be sad,” he tells him, gently, “it’s my birthday.”

Summary
It was only a matter of time until this happened, and Will should’ve been more careful, should’ve known that the one time he doesn’t patrol with Mike that it would happen again, and that Mike wouldn’t be carrying his song with him. Will has noticed, over the past few weeks, a shift in Mike – away from his old, emphatic self, to a Mike that’s more withdrawn, that always looks tired or lost in thought or both. And, look – Will knows that the apocalypse is never kind, not to anyone, but it’s especially concerning to see Mike act this way at strategy meetings, at the few DND games they get to play when there’s a lull in action, when he’s doing something he’s interested in.
Will has noticed, and he’s not an idiot – everyone told him how much Mike wanted him back when he was taken, how furious Mike was with anyone who said he was dead. But Dustin told him, one night, about the quarry, the way Mike hadn’t even hesitated to step off, like he wanted to die.
mike gets vecna'd, and will steps in to save him -- if mike will let him.

Summary
They’re going to a club. Mike isn’t wildly keen on the idea. But Will wants to go. It’s a date after all. One of their first in public.
Mike pulls together an ensemble he hopes will pass for club attire- his favorite jeans, worn supple in all the right places, paired with the green shirt Will bought him for Christmas.
He tries to tame his hair, fingers combing through it until it looks acceptable. Adequate.
Will, meanwhile, looks stupidly, unfairly exquisite.
His hair is pushed back, mostly, though a few defiant strands have slipped loose, falling over his forehead. Before they leave, he lingers at the tiny wall mirror by the front door. Mike watches, transfixed, as Will bites his plush lower lip in concentration and clicks the silver hoop into his ear. The sight lands somewhere low and deep in Mike’s chest. The flame flickers. Fuck.

Or, on a night out with his boyfriend, Mike is an anxious mess. He’s trying his best. They love each other so much!

Mike lets out a frustrated groan and knocks his head back against the seat—like Hopper’s the one being cryptic here.
Mike’s voice cracks slightly when he repeats, “He hurt Will.” More urgent this time. More desperate.
“Okay. I get that,” Hopper says slowly. “But it doesn’t explain why—”
Mike cuts him off, sharp. “If Will didn’t tell you, then I’m not telling you.”
