Summary
Before Ashes and Smoke was integrated into the Stars That Have People Names series as the background for Stand Without Flinching, it was going to be a standalone story.
I wrote a number of scenes from the original planned sequel of Ashes, and rather than keep them in my drafts, I thought I'd share for anyone who might be interested.
So if you'd like to see some of Duo and Heero's kids--learning about their their parents and see how I originally planned to have Heero and Duo find one another again, read ahead. Some of these scenes are incomplete and there's a lot of connecting scenes missing (I wrote the fun parts first).

The image of that boy, forever emblazoned in his memory the way he had looked that last night just before they had parted, his fiery chestnut hair mussed, his cheeks tearstained, his eyes glowing with more love than Heero had thought possible, his voice saying that one last sentence, the one Heero would always remember, “Aishiteru koi, oyasumi.”
Five years ago the war had ended. That very night Heero and Duo had made a promise to end their relationship and move on with other people. People who could better teach them how to live in times of peace. Back then, it had been the correct decision but now Heero wondered if his choice to stay away forever had been right. He was miserable and he had to find out if Duo felt the same way or had moved on.
