As Hayden stands up, Shane is suddenly aware that his best friend has had just enough alcohol that Shane is concerned for what might come out of his mouth. He also notices that Hayden does not have any sort of notes with him, unlike Sveta, and he shares a silent panicked look with Jackie.

“I realized pretty quickly that the ‘hockey god’” Hayden did quotation marks in the air. “Was just a scared 19 year old like I had been the year before.... That was the moment I decided I was going to be Shane’s friend. Not because he was Shane fucking Hollander, but becuase he was just a kid like the rest of us were as rookies.”Hayden gives his Best Man speech at Shane and Ilya's wedding, if goes better than anyone expected.

It had only been four days since he had ‘come out’ to Troy and Wyatt. They’d had back to back games the past three days and had just won a close afternoon game against Nashville. Ilya had been looking forward to going home, snuggling with Anya, and waiting for Shane to call him after practice and dinner with the Pikes.
He is not expecting his childhood best friend to be at his house. In Ottawa.

Hayden hadn’t thought it could get this bad. He hadn’t thought the Metro’s could sink this low. And yet…
In some ways JJ's not shocked at the reaction of the team...JJ understood the kneejerk reaction, but Shane had told the team about Rozanov three weeks ago. And JJ knew that some of them might feel hurt, like he had, that Shane had kept this from them for so long, but he also knew some of them had never gotten over Shane coming out as gay to begin with. So no, he’s not shocked that the team hasn’t reacted well to losing to Ilya Rozanov now that they know about him and Shane.
What he is a little shocked by is the vitriol they were spitting.
The aftermath of Shane's trip in the game against the Centaurs, except they weren't outed and they came out to their teammates on their own terms. The Metro's still don't handle it well.

Summary
“I am serious, though, you are safe, yes? Drunk at hotel, sitting on balcony, crying over Montreal’s terrible loss?”
It makes sense that Ilya’s mind would go there first. Shane said he was outside. Based on past behavior, the hotel balcony is probably the only place Ilya would expect him to be. He feels a little giddy that he gets to shock him for once.
“I’m at a club, actually.” He has to bite back a self-satisfied smile as he speaks, “With the team. Safe.”
It's quiet for a few moments before Ilya deadpans,
“Very funny joke.”
(or: three days after the breakup with rose, shane gets drunk in boston. it spirals out from there.)

Summary
It’s like they’re in a fucked up game of relationship chicken now, increasingly doing things together that Shane can’t describe as anything other than domestic and romantic and boyfriend-like. They text constantly, detailing their days and sharing everything from complaints about teammates to jokes about other players in the league to the kind of quiet worries about family that don’t need to be responded to, just heard by another person.
Or maybe it’s like Schroedinger’s cat. As long as Shane doesn’t ask, doesn’t speak out loud, he can have this. It can exist, and it cannot exist at the same time as long as Shane doesn’t press too hard. Doesn’t want too much.
It feels increasingly like agony now that he’s realized that he loves Ilya.
...
Tunameltdown AU where Ilya makes him tuna melts and says his name and Shane doesn’t freak out and run away. Well, he does freak out, but he also stays. Or the one where Shane doesn’t realize that Ilya’s his boyfriend for a solid three months.

“Mr. Hollander,” Dr. Jackson said. Shane looked at her again, and got a creeping sensation up the back of his spine. She continued, “Are you aware that you’re pregnant?”
Shane blinked. Pregnant? There was no way.
He knew he was a carrier, but he’d always been so careful about birth control and condoms. Militant about it, in fact. His hand drifted down to his stomach. Shane had been feeling nauseous lately, and maybe a little tired, but he’d chalked it up to too much training. The few pounds he’d put on were written off as a result of sneaking one too many Snickers bars when he was stressed.
“That’s–that can’t be right,” Shane said, shaking his head. He felt bile rise up in his throat again, and covered his mouth. Dr. Jackson quickly reached into a cabinet and handed him a blue bag, which Shane then proceeded to empty the contents of his stomach into.
