    She does come to dinner nearly an hour later, dried tears shining on her cheeks. She sits silently at the table and waits for Kai to put a plate in front of her. He doesn’t ask again what’s wrong, sitting down to eat his own food.

    “It’s the daddy daughter dance,” she finally sniffs, wiping her nose on the back of her hand. “At school.” Kai stills. “All the girls in school have someone to bring them, ‘cept me.”

    “I’ll take you,” says Kai, on reflex. Her head shakes.

    “You’re working that night.”

    The City of Ninjago had been attacked once again, this time by Kalmaar and the serpent Wojira. The team had been getting civillians to safety whilst fighting off the armed forces that came from the sea before something happened and Jay got injured.

    Kai watched as his little sister grew more and more determined to save Jay and he knew that she was about to do something awful. In order to stop her, he must go through with a transformation that will steal him away from his family.
