The vampires whose cover was not blown are faced with the challenge of hiding amongst a town that is now far more aware of them, while they form new relationships the humans they couldn't while at the castle, and their fangs may escape who they found in canon to search for new targets.
Also Pearl's a full werewolf this time around, because that's fun.

Summary
Cleo's old master died while Oakhurst was besieging his fort. Cleo rallied the defence and inherited it by claiming to be his bastard. And that would have all worked out well and good if Kastelo had not proceeded to lose the war. Oakhurst's nobility would now very much like it's enemy to not have control of a strategic fort, no matter what she did for the surrender negotiations. Oakhurst's nobility would also very much like to put the common-as-muck mercenary general Pearl Wolfsbane out of the way somewhere, so she can't decide to bite the hand that's stopped feeding her.
How about Oakhurst gets to kill two birds with one stone?

Not that it does anything, obviously. Rodimus keeps grinding down and grinning up at Minimus, taunts spilling past his derma. “Aw, c’mon, I’m not allowed to tease back after all you—”
Abruptly, Rodimus goes very silent and still as something… catches. Minimus’s spike finds purchase and he finally pushes forward.
Not into Rodimus’s valve, but into the tiny waste port set just above it.
