"Normally, I so wouldn't ask you because I know you’re just getting over being sick but I have like the hugest favor to ask of you. Is there any way you could pick Damian up from school?” Dick asked.
No. Nope. Absolutely fucking not.
“Apparently someone called into his school and claimed there was Scarecrow Fear Toxin in the soup they served at lunch or something like that. Police searched the school and they were on lock down and everything. Damian insists it was just a prank call from someone who wanted to get out of a test, but Gotham prep is requiring kids to be picked up anyway,” Dick explained, “I’m the next in line for an emergency contact but I’m working a case right now.”
Tim truly did not want to leave his bed. Even less appealing than getting up was the idea of being in an enclosed space with Damian. It was simply a homicide waiting to happen. Who killed who was up for debate, but someone would be dead before his car crossed the twelve miles between Gotham Prep and Wayne Manor."

Summary
There were many things in life that Damian had failed at. Not necessarily were those things always his fault, but that did not excuse them from being his responsibility. So while he could not claim to have known better when he made the mistakes, as an adult now in possession of better decision making skills, he has decided to rectify the mistakes that could still be fixed.
He even made a list. An itemised one, in order of severity and importance of correcting said mistakes. It is.... to say the least, not a short list. Nor an easy one to stare at, though Damian does not let that fact deter him. He had done a year of Redemption before, he knew it would not be easy, but that didn’t mean he would allow that to stop him from atoning and starting anew.
If he could survive long enough to do so, that is.

Solo-patrols might have been a mistake, but you live and you learn, y’know?
