Summary
Frank was here. At a speed dating event. Which meant that he’d spent his evening sitting across from a dozen other women, looking for the same thing she was - a relationship.
The realization made her stomach sink. For months now, she’d been telling herself there was a reason Frank hadn’t made a move. Maybe he wasn’t ready after the divorce. Maybe he wasn’t even interested in dating at all - maybe he was too busy with work and the kids to even think about it. But he was here, which meant none of those things were true.
Frank wanted a relationship - just not with her.

Summary
Mel King planned her life out to a T when she was thirteen years old.
What she hadn't planned for was meeting Frank Langdon on her first day of college at Penn State.
She definitely hadn't planned on becoming best friends with him.
And she absolutely hadn't planned on falling in love with him.

Summary
For a moment that seemed to draw on for an hour, nobody said anything, the awkward shock of whatever the hell had just occurred settling between them all. Garcia turned toward Frank slowly.
“What the fuck is up with ER Barbie today?” she asked. “Did Poison Ivy over there key her car or something?”
Santos had to cover her mouth to stifle the laugh that burst out. She would think this was hilarious. He bit his tongue so he didn’t say anything he’d regret - they were just beginning to tolerate each other.
Frank stared out the closed doors. “I have no idea.”
or: the one where an overconfident intern openly flirts with Frank, and unleashes a side of Mel nobody has seen before.

Summary
“—and I know that there’s Becca and Tanner and Millie to consider, but I was wondering if you maybe wanted to move in? Together? With me?”
Mel blinks. He certainly doesn’t look like he’s having a stroke.
“Frank, why would we move in together?”
“I thought it might be nice,” he shrugs here, acting nonchalant even though Mel can see the tension in his jaw. “To take that next step in our relationship.”
“Frank, what are you talking about? We’re not in a relationship?”
At this, Frank’s frown deepens before widening into a frustrated half smile. “Uh, yes we are? We’ve been dating for nine months?”
What.
Or, Frank thinks Mel doesn’t do physical touch.

Summary
“Um.” Mel looked down. “I still don’t know what everyone’s talking about. Honestly. That’s just how he looks at me.”
Diana’s eyebrows shot up. “You’re saying he looks at you like that often?”
Mel rolled her head. “I mean, we work together a lot. Maybe I’m not seeing what other people are seeing because to me, that’s just… how he looks.” She glanced at Langdon, who was looking at her the same way he always did, and for some reason, it made the feather dance that time, and she had to look away.

Summary
“Tell me not to do it.”
Her jaw drops, eyebrows furrowing, and she says, “What?”
“Tell me not to do it,” he repeats. “Tell me that I should divorce her, tell me that you —”
He swallows the words and says, “Tell me that I shouldn’t renew my vows, that I should be with someone who actually wants to be with me, who isn’t just doing it because she thinks she has to because we have kids and I’m in recovery.”
