Summary
When he begins to look around, it only takes a couple of seconds before he finds the source of the yell. The first thing he notices is their hair, tightly braided with some strands framing their face, looking alive and healthy despite the muted pink dye. He actually stops in his place because of how beautifully styled it is.
The second thing is that they're looking directly at him.
Oh.
He flushes under his gaze.
"Yes, you!"

The first time- it seemed like déjà vu. Like he remembered the ending in a dream, the day before, or maybe even centuries ago. It was a harsh slap of dread, in that bunker, and it was like he knew exactly where the arrow was coming from before it landed home in his throat. But it was just that; a prophetic dream. One that everyone has every now and then, right?
The second time he wasn't so sure.

“Jesus fuck,” Aaron says. It is no less shocking on second sight. The face is humanoid, but the proportions are all wrong. The eyes are far too big. They had been green when Aaron first saw them, but now they’re completely black, no white visible at all. The nose is long and broad, but rather than thinning out at the bridge, it expands, blending into the forehead. The shock of dark hair, slicked back from water, seems out of place atop the head, as do the eyebrows, currently slanted inward. The lips look human, but the mouth is too wide, currently turned down in what looks like a concerned frown. It’s the trademark expression of a bigeye thresher, the kind of perpetual anxiety their faces appear frozen in from the human perspective. Aaron, deliriously, laughs.

this is a genuine masterpiece. never have i EVER read such an incredible aaron minyard fic like this, like holy fuck. i felt his pain like i PERSONALLY went through that shit, and i never thought id find a fic that perfectly represents aaron the way i pray for him to be represented. beautiful angst. EVERY aspect of this fic is soso wonderfully written. lovelovelove the grocery store scene. his internal monologue at the start was so spacey and disconnected and i loved that shit SO much. 100% felt. the internalised homophobia was a very nice plus. the amount of fights neil picks with him bc he thinks hes homophobic was a delight. my poor poor misunderstood boy

Suddenly, the bathroom light turned on, causing Kevin to snap his unfocused eyes to the door and catch a glimpse of grey sweatpants and a black hoodie.
"Kevin?” A voice said, scratchy from sleep and whispering. “What the fuck are you doing?”
Kevin froze; he knew that voice, and the blur of blonde hair only confirmed his guess.
“Aaron,” he mumbled, knowing the difference between the twins immediately.

Some nights, Kevin can't sleep. Memories of dark hallways and 16-hour days flashing through his mind every time his eyes close, keeping him awake. He sometimes ends up on the bathroom floor, living through his worst nightmares.

Usually when Neil starts shit in a post-game press interview, he does it on purpose. This time, he really just meant for it to be a joke.“How do you feel about the possibility of ending up on a team with a former Fox teammate?” is the next question.
“Great,” Neil answers, sincere. “I would love to play with Matt or Kevin again.”
“What about Minyard? Would you sign with Atlanta?”
Neil says, “Andrew? He’s a nightmare.”
He knows it’s a joke. His team knows it’s a joke. Andrew will know it’s a joke.
The press does not seem to know that it’s a joke.
