He scans the room for an empty table, preferably one in the corner, when his gaze snags on a familiar figure near the back window.
Jack's eyes freeze, like somebody just locked them in place.
And that somebody is Samira Mohan.
For a second, he genuinely wonders if he's going crazy, if the lack of sleep has finally made its way to hallucinations. The distance isn't far, barely twenty feet, but it's enough that he shuts down that thought.
"No, you dumbass, why the fuck would that be Sa—"
Then she turns slightly, and unfortunately, there's no denying it, because every neuron of his suddenly stops firing.
