“Hey,” Chuuya says, eyes roaming all over Dazai as if he’s not real. Dazai can understand that - he can hardly believe it himself that today has come. He keeps thinking he’ll wake up and all of this talk of being released would’ve turned out to be some cruel delusion.
“Hi,” Dazai replies, balancing on the backs of his feet out of excitement. Chuuya is here, and he’s here to take him home.

"Great, you’re here,” Yosano appears from the other side of the office - she doesn’t look too happy, and Chuuya is immediately on alert. Both cause that likely means there’s something wrong with Dazai, and Chuuya knows her. He’s not scared of her by any means, but she’s not one to mess with. “Since when is Dazai deaf?!”
“Since he was 10, more or less,” he replies. And then he realizes just what she’d asked. “Wait, you didn’t know?”
“No! He didn’t say a fucking thing!”

Summary
Dazai looks nervous, and Chuuya can’t crack why. He definitely looks wrong, though, like he’s about to jump out of his skin.
Which does happen when something makes a particularly loud noise outside. Dazai’s head whips in that direction, his whole body tenses, and he clutches the plushie in his arms like letting it go would mean sudden death.
“You’re scared,” Chuuya realizes. “You’re scared of this, why didn’t you tell me?”
/or: dazai is scared of sleeping in the woods so chuuya cuddles him to sleep
