What a beautiful fanfic, reads like Oscar Wilde or something similar. Maybe doomed love, maybe the most beautiful slow burn. Author is incredibly talented.

Summary
Buck had lost-- he was sure of this now. His resolve only lasted a few weeks before his exterior began to crack; he was never a very good actor. He couldn’t keep up the greetings and the asking questions and the easy stroll. He let his shoulders creep up to his ears, let his foot tap incessantly. He did what his Captain told him, but stopped asking for anything more. Stopped following the conversation in the back of the engine on the way to the call; he just stared out the window, thinking about the case to come, preparing for it. When he woke every morning, there was no big recovery milestone to strive for, no big fight for the soul of his career to win. Not even the happy swell of being back on shift -- something so easy to dismiss, that had dominated so much of his life, that he had taken for granted-- that had catalyzed him each morning of his first week back.
An old habit of his had returned. A bad habit.~~
or: after the lawsuit, buck confronts what it was he wanted all along. he looks and looks and longs for it; the team looks right through him. buck breaks-- right down the middle.

He was still smiling, but it was the honest kind that grew from both corners of his mouth. Not teasing. The weight on Steve’s chest widened, a familiar measure of dread that lasted all summer, long after the hand-me-down sweater stopped smelling like Bucky.

“Steve?” Bucky finally speaks, having been standing – no, shaking – in the living room entrance. The brunette says his name with such disbelief. Like they hadn’t just seen each other. Right?
“Stevie?” and he crosses the distance between them and all but picks Steve up with desperate hands, “Steve, you look...they said you’re dead Stevie.”
Bucky sinks to his knees before Steve with a sob and real panic claws at the smaller man, causes a hitch in his breathing he is glad Bucky doesn’t seem to notice. Bucky claws at him too, both hands fisting in his shirt, pulling Steve tight to him while the man’s head presses against Steve’s stomach.
As time passes lazily around Steve the growing sense that something is off nags at him when all Steve wants is to see his ma.
And find out what is suddenly wrong with Bucky.

this is definetly the best fanfic I've ever read, and the ending is just ambiguous/open enough but you know what happened, don't you? Oh my GOD!! i cant. this actually made me cry, there are tears streaming from my eyes as I write this review. Can everyone who likes Stucky please read this fanfic right now? This is the best fanfic i have ever read. Not the best stucky fanfic, not top 5 fanfics, this is NUMBER 1. Across all boards, every single one. Oh. My. God.

Summary
Steve wasn’t sure when the hot dog vendor had first appeared on his morning run. What he did know was that if it had always been there, he would noticed the scent and changed routes as an evasive measure. Maybe it had shown up when he had to deviate his normal routine because of construction, or maybe this was the first time he noticed it because this was the first time it was there to be noticed. Steve wasn’t an oblivious guy, to the point of being hyper aware of his surroundings, and so chances were that it was the latter.
He knew that.
He also knew that if the hot dog cart had been there before, he certainly would have noticed the familiar profile of the vendor. Combining that with the scent of grilled meat and bread, it was enough to throw Steve off balance as he ran across the street, feeling like, for the first time in ages, he was actively running away from something that couldn't evanesce like his memories.

the one instance i actually enjoyed kidfics... hm. A really good HOUSE character study, surprisingly. Made me pretty sad he never had kids in the show. I'd say absolutely NO OOC, I couldn't have written it better myself. Mousebites is and always will be an extremely talented writer, i have all of their fics bookmarked and recommended to friends.

She’s gorgeous and spunky and just the right amount of everything but Bucky can’t get it up to save his life. And what’s worse is he’s not interested. At all. And he should be.
His S.H.I.E.L.D-appointed therapist tells him that a diminished sex-drive is normal for someone with depression. But Bucky tells her that it isn’t diminished, it’s fucking gone.'
OR: The depression that has resulted from being The Winter Soldier has left Bucky with little to no interest in sex. Seeing as he was more than interested in it before the war, Bucky is rightfully perturbed, even setting out to try to get that spark back . And Steve, well Steve is his rock through it all--always is, really.

but ALSO??? OMGGG!! The diagnosis process, not only the medical but mental processing of the diagnosis is so realistic. The list of things he wants to do, talking about it with his best friends... THE DISCUSSION OF THE SUICIDE ATTEMPT?? its all so relatable and real while still seeming to fit the character... genuinely some of the best writing i have ever feasted upon.

i LOVE hostage situation fics, seriously. This is so IN CHARACTER and amazing, while still being medically and historically accurate. With all that, we still have an enjoyable read with good suspense. Plot and feeling development are realistic, AHH!!!!!!! I love it so much its so good.

!! I LIVED for this. This fic was read during a too-hot summer day where I was feeling sweaty and dizzy. I think this is the type of fic this is, sweaty and dizzy. It has all those poetic elements that make a fic special while still remaining an in-character and plot-driven story. So beautifully written, I genuinely believe shakespeare came back to life to write this story so me and you could read. While the relationship isnt entirely pushed as much as i would typically enjoy in a slash/fic, it was done so well i cant even complain. Actually, I genuinely prefer this to whatever the alternative might have been. Overall an amazing read, and a OAK fic.
