"Luuk?" Rover felt like his voice was swallowed up in his surroundings, barely carrying to the short hallway that connected the two rooms. The conversation next door seemed to fall into silence a bit ago. So, surely-
"Hm? Is something the matter?" Rover was so distracted that Luuk's voice startled him, even as the blonde was in view now. Rover shifted awkwardly, tucking the book under his arm closer to his body. "Rover, what's wrong?" He started across the room and the shorter man couldn't meet his gaze.
"Luuk, what are we?"

“Are you sure?” Luuk asked, and Rover had never been more sure of anything in his life. He'd been thinking about it for weeks, since that time in Luuk’s office. He’d come to terms with what that meant for the future, too.
And despite knowing what that future held, Rover wanted to take this chance anyway. He’d weighed his options, had thought of alternatives.
But in every conceivable reality, Luuk was worth it.

Summary
Luuk wondered why at first, since hanahaki was something that was not blood-related, not hereditary. It is the culmination of suppressed feelings manifested as blooms, natural flowers. Having the so-called universal drug in his veins should have made him immune to it. He shouldn’t be able to have vines growing in him.
Turns out Ichor has its ways of making the impossible possible. That’s what Luuk hypothesized.
