You're more than just a rumour

Summary:

Juhoon is quiet. He's always been that way.

Rumours always come and go but this one has stuck with him for years.

"Juhoon is a spoiled brat who pays for his success."

That's what people say about him.
He never stands up for himself.
So people decide who he is for him.

Now, he's forced to do a group presentation with people who despise him.

What will he do?
Are the rumours true?

Chapter Text

The classroom was way too loud for how early it was.

Juhoon walked in, grasping his books by his chest, slipping past the other students whilst avoiding eye contact, all to reach his favourite seat in the back.

He set up his stationary just how he liked it, before watching out the windows, lost in a daydream.

Not long after, martin walked in, his bag slung over his shoulder by one strap, headphones only sitting on one ear.

Seonghyeon waved him over to the table his friends were sitting at, and he sat, smiling at them.

"Hey, martin, do you have a pen? I didn't bring one." James asks, shaking his bag upside down, nothing but a half eaten pack of gum and a hoodie falling onto the table.

"Are you kidding? You didn't bring any stationary on your first day back at school? Come on, bro." Martin says, crossing his arms.

"Here, I have one." Keonho says, chucking it across the table, James barely catching it.

Seonghyeon leans over the table, resting his elbows . "This year, I'm definitely gonna get highest grades. I'm seriously locking in."

"You wish," keonho begins. "Not with mr money man over there." He points at juhoon, who's in his own world in the corner.

"Ugh, I can't stand him, really." Martin says.

"Why, what did he do?" James asks, looking over at juhoon, trying to read the blank expression on his face.

"What did he do? Really? He's super rich. And just look at him! He clearly thinks he's better than everyone else. He doesn't even bother to speak." Seonghyeon begins. "He gets picked up from school everyday by his own personal chaufFeur, and clearly pays for his high grades. I've never seen him study, not once."

"People like that really piss me off, not bothering to work for their success." Martin adds, glaring over in juhoons direction.

"I mean, he doesn't seem that bad. Maybe its just a rumour." James suggests.

Keonho chimes in. "All rumours start for a reason."

Juhoon looks up, sensing the angry glares staring him down.

Him and Martin make eye contact.

They hold each other's gaze, resentment and anger filling the space between them.

Then suddenly, for a split moment, the atmosphere changes. Anger turning into some sort of curiosity.

They both snap out of it as the teacher walks into the room, urging the class to quiet down.

But, as the class begins, Martin can't stop thinking.

He thinks of how much he despises juhoon.
