Jason short-circuits for a beat, and then runs the words back. “What?”
Tim takes a deep breath, and it’s steady. “I’m going to die,” he repeats, “and I don’t want to be alone, so please stay on the line.”

When Red Hood goes after Robin, he expects to take down an arrogant pretender. What he finds instead is a child broken in ways that infuriate him more than anything the Pit could whisper in his ears.
Or, Jason kicks the Pit out of his head because like fuck he'll let Bruce continue being so clueless, Tim doesn't realize just how loved he is, and all Bruce wants is having all his sons safe and sound.

Tim knew getting involved with a scheme that required him to be in any form of pretend romantic relationship with Jason Todd was a terrible idea. He'd had a crush on him since they'd met during his first year of college and now they were going to get married to win more financial aid. Tim was an idiot for doing this and he knew the fallout would kill him when it came but he was finding it hard to care when it meant he got to have Jason pressed against his side as they walked across campus and matching rings decorating their fingers.
