“Really, Eds? Me giving a sub-par lesson to your kid does it for you?” Buck snorts, raising an eyebrow in sheer amusement when Eddie merely mirrors his position, leaning in close so that their knees pressed up against each other.
“Our kid. And by the way Chris was smiling, I doubt it was sub-par. You’ve just – always been here. With us. You’ve always been right here,” Eddie’s original teasing smile turns tender, the edges of his lips softening into a look that Buck has seen directed at people he loved many a time.
“Eddie.”
“Point is, I just really love you,” Eddie’s eyes shine with a myriad of emotions when their gazes meet again, and Buck inhales sharply.
Or, Buck slingshots mac and cheese, becomes a pillow, teaches physics, misses brunch, and drowns in love through it all

He shouldn’t have—” Zuko clamps his mouth shut, his teeth clicking together, and swallows thickly. “I mean. I found the tactic he proposed very startling, but it wasn’t my place to question such things. I’m sure he had his reasons.”

After going toe to toe with two criminals, and winning TWICE mind you; Kevin thought he could face anything the world could throw at him. After a freak car accident with his family, and ending up at his terrible uncle Franks and aunt Leslie’s house, 10 year old Kevin wasn’t too sure about that anymore. One “Accidental fire”, a bus ticket to some random city, and $300 dollars in his bag; There was no stopping tiny and bruised 11 year old Kevin from leaving “home”. 13 year old Kevin is doing a hell of a lot better in his abandoned fire station in Crime Alley than he ever did at his hellish old home; now if only Kevin could get the vigilante kid “Robin” unstuck from his roof trap at 3:30 in the morning.

Summary
Zuko realizes his destiny much earlier. As in, as soon as he wakes up in the palace after his Agni Kai and is told he is banished. Unfortunately, he's never been a patient one. So he storms right up to Ozai and tells him what he's going to do. And gets locked up for over three years. Then, one day, he's being pulled out and told he's the new Fire Lord.
A "Zuko never meets the Gaang and suddenly becomes Fire Lord after three years of literal torture" AU. In which the Gaang doesn't know what to think of the new Fire Lord who happens to be the missing nephew of Aang's firebending teacher, Iroh constantly has a headache, and, sure, maybe the world hates the Fire Nation, but the Fire Nation LOVES Zuko, and he can work with that.
